Assuming it's at the SCG I'd add do the selectors play Swepson to the mix?

Surely Boland would retain his spot in the team. Like kicking 10 goals and being dropped.

          You would think so.

BTW: How are you feeling after your recent health issues? Hope you are well.

Thanks mate. Still have a few issues but mustn't grumble. Loving living up here and weather is great...but not today, windy and overcast. Rain coming but still 25 degrees. Fills up the dams which is great.

I wouldn't play him but the thought was 2 quicks, Cummins and Starc, Green and the two spin bowlers.
I'd stick with what we have and allow Hazlewood the extra test to get right.

I'd only take the one spinner in, and leave the pace attack as is.

There's no harm in giving Hazelwood another week or so to be cherry ripe, everyone else performed and as far as Neser and Richardson are concerned thems are just the breaks and they'll have to wait for their chance again. A guy came in and was man of the match, the other was the captain who bowled well.......but it is test selection, so who knows.

If it goes ahead I wonder if it will be Mitch Marsh or Henry Hunt to replace him? Maybe Maddinson.

I wonder how many players would need to be ruled out before they cancel/postpone the test? 3? 5?

Because based on my experience with Omicron this week, if one player has it you can bet that he won't be the only one.

Maybe but Marsh has been impressive.
For a one test game Ussi might be the best of the options

Just read that Mitch Marsh, Nic Maddinson and Josh Inglis have been added to the squad.

Head, who is Australia's leading run-scorer in the Ashes to date, with 248 at 62 after a stunning century in the series opener in Brisbane, could be replaced in the side by Usman Khawaja, whom he beat out for a spot in the Australia XI ahead of that Gabba Test.

Australia: Pat Cummins (c), Steve Smith (vc), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Marcus Harris, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Michael Neser, Jhye Richardson, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner
