Sadly no. I am actually heading back to Oz in a week. In time for the game in Ballarat (wtching on TV) and the Tigers game (intending on punishing my kids and taking them)

re the cricket, I would actually like Australia to do something a little bit different:

    Open with Marsh - Sounds a little silly, but can he really be any worse than Warner? If he comes off he will go big and even if he only half comes off he provides a really good foil for Khawaja;

Bring back Green - I think he will have a big say in the last 2 tests either with bat or ball or hopefully both; and

Play Neser - the guys is in form both with bat and ball. The English conditions suit him and his movement in the air and off th pitch will trouble the likes of Crawley, Brooks and Ducket.

The Brits are really worried about Marsh. They rate him more than we do and I think him opening the batting breaks a spell.

Dew didn't waste any time getting out of the Gold Coast.

Looking like we are going to stick with the same side apart from Hazelwood to replace Boland. Warner to stay and Green to miss out.

England similarly with the same XI apart from Anderson replacing Robinson. Moeen to bat at 3 again.

1 week to go. Hopefully we can secure the Ashes in Manchester so the Poms will be a little quieter at the Oval.

I would play Green. I just don't see us getting enough runs if Marsh is at 6. He is a hit and miss cricketer and could easily have made 2 low scores at Headingley. If we aren't confident in Murphy then bat down to 8 and give ourtselves a real chance of batting England ou t of the game.

Historically Old Trafford spins, but spinners there have a poor recent record. Think weather has a bit to do with it - some rain around in days 3, 4 and 5

I guess we use Head and maybe Marcus to bowl a few overs if they feel the wicket will take it.

I hope we win the toss for once.

Thoughts on having 3 quicks supported by two batting all-rounders?
I would have through Neser would have been a better option to the support the 3 quicks

In normal circumstances I would always like to see a spinner in the team, but these aren't normal circumstances. With rain around England will likely be even more aggressive in a must win game for them. They aren't likely to face a lot of overs and once again chances are Murphy wouldn't get to bowl much. Might as well strengthen the batting and have Head or Marnus roll a few overs down I guess.

Over rates are going to be an issue. Have to agree with Khwaja's argument to the ICC recently though - if the game is reaching a result well within the allotted time then the over rate penalties seem unnecessarily harsh. If a result isn't being achieved due to slow over rates then come down hard.

Can't drop Marsh after last game so it comes down to Green v Neser. Although Neser is in rare batting form I would still back Green in as the better batsmen. As I said in the last post I can't see England facing a huge number of overs so I think the 3 specialist quicks can bowl the majority with some chop outs from Green, Marsh, Head, etc.

It hasn't worked often when you add a batting all-rounder in at number 7 as typically they don't end up batting like a number 6.
I agree that we cant drop Marsh.

I think we will be going into this game with a focus on getting a draw more than a win.
To me Carey at 7, Neser at 8 followed by Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood looks a strong enough tail.
