About 3 am after he sprayed luminol on the stumps and staggered through the string lines he'd set-up of all possible trajectories he smiled, nodded to himself and went home.BT COME BACK!

Re: Summer of Cricket 2024/25 Squads
Someone needs to have a chat with Marnus about his captaincy. He bowled 27 overs of medium pace across two innings - probably no surprise he's managed scores of 22 and 10.
Sure, you're an energetic cricketer, but there's no chance that amount of bowling doesn't drain you when you're batting 3 and you're the side's best fielder.
We've got a couple of keepers in terrific form as well. Carey made a super 100 but Inglis is the best batsman in the competition at the moment. He's got two hundreds and is averaging 99 from four knocks. Batting was tough on that Perth wicket as well.
I wouldn't do it, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Inglis being spoken about as a bolter for the opening spot. He's batted there in white ball cricket and his game probably suits it.Comment

Re: Summer of Cricket 2024/25 Squads
I think every keeper has made runs in this round of shield.
Greg Shipperd (NSW coach) raised Inglis as a potential test opener, along with Konstas.
This is the worry though:
However, Inglis has never opened in first-class cricket. He has batted at No. 3 six times and averaged 12.66, at No.4 once and No. 5 six times but has only passed 50 in one of those seven innings. All of his seven first-class centuries, including his two this season, have come at No. 6 or below. He has opened for Australia in six limited-overs internationals for one half-century. His two T20I centuries, including one against India in India, have come at No.3.Comment

'A right-handed version of Warner': Josh Inglis launched into opening debate
Really good cricketer, gets runs under pressure, plays spin very nicely and is excellent on the back foot - the only thing is he's never quite smacked down the door with a dominant season and his record is still mediocre, but all of McSweeney, Renshaw, Harris and Bancroft have career First Class averages between 37-40, so he's now hit that mark.Comment

Re: Summer of Cricket 2024/25 Squads
There's also bit of talk about Nathan McSweeney coming in as an opening bat having never opened in First Class cricket. I could see them going that way, they love his potential and it's not a ridiculous shift from batting 3.

Inglis would be a gamble. This is where the selectors should get WA to move him up the order if they want to take a look him opening instead of throwing him in sight unseen into a test against Bumrah and co.Comment

We don't have a lot of good cricketers coming though and it's hard to see not having a bit of a slump if we can't unearth a couple of players soon. Bancroft was given out incorrectly.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Summer of Cricket 2024/25 Squads
I think he's in pole position for the opening spot. Langer, Hayden and Khawaja all became converted openers. He's the right age, talented, good head on his shoulders and gets runs when they're required.Comment

He's been spoken about as a future leader too. Good time to get him in. Konstas has plenty of time and it's time to move past Harris and Bancroft.Comment
