The old statement , it’s harder to get out of the Australian side than in it.
His one day World Cup was atrocious.
He is 36 it’s not going to get any better.
I'm not a Maxwell fan at all, he's brilliant when it comes off well for him but way too inconsistent from my perspective
That said, the delivery that got him last night would have knocked some far better batsman as well so I can't hold that against him.

He's just the worlds biggest tease, because we all know his best is is simply stunning, don't thing we'll ever see another innings as that one v the Afghans which was just out of this world but other times he tries the big shot first ball and get's out, that said i reckon all teams playing against us don't want him playing as they also know how destructing he can be, like Stokes, has been out of sorts for large patches over the past few seasons, but we'd prefer he didn't play against us.

India A all out for 161 and Australia A are currently 2 for 53. McSweeney out for 14 and it wasn't necessarily a great delivery that dismissed him. Harris is 26no and would need a big innings to get his name back in front of the selectors.

Harris top scored with 74 out of 223.

Neser out with a hamstring will mean Boland is the likely reserve bowler with McSweeney and Harris making up the 13 and fighting it out for one spot. All to play for in the second dig.

McSweeney out for 25. Harris and Bancroft out for 1st ball ducks.

Solid win by the Aussie A side. Konstas 73 and Webster 46 got us home.

Re: Summer of Cricket 2024/25 Squads

Is Australian cricket on a bit of a decline at the moment?
The pace bowlers keep us in it but given the age of Starc and Hazlewood it's just a matter of time before they to decline. Neser got injured and I don't know if Abbott is a test quality player. Boland can fill in. There are serviceable quicks in the shield but nothing outstanding.
Is there another spinner or two to replace Lyon if he was to get injured?
The batting is a concern, Marnus and Smith aren't the players they were 2 years back and we are already struggling to find openers.
Even Marsh has cut back his bowling to next to nothing and is probably not an all rounder now.

We need some quality players coming through.

A sharp decline and it appears to be quicker than most of us thought.
Batsman who don't put a lot of value on their wicket is the starting point.
McSweeney looks to be the one to bat up the order which isn't ideal. Smith and Labuschgne are struggling. Maybe a couple of the emerging WA boys help address that. Lets hope Green returns and shores up our batting.
There isn't a lot of depth with the pace bowlers but we should be right for another year or so.
Todd Murphy seems to be an okay replacement for Lyon but he isn't ready yet. Perhaps Rocchiccioli gets a bit better.
