The Second Test - Australia vs South Africa

No changes to either side and Australia are off to a brisk start mainly due to 75 from Phil Hughes.

    None for 119 at lunch.

I think they will regret that especially after the start the openers have provided.

60 runs of Hughes 81 have come off boundaries. When he hits them they stay hit.

He is so unorthodox that they are not sure where to bowl to him. They seem to be having a bet each way on him with no consistent approach.

Didn't Graeme Smith say yesterday that they'd worked him out and he was scared of the short stuff?

Over 41.4: Kallis to Hughes, FOUR, and now slaps a wide ball away with a cracking square drive. Absolutely nothing here for the South Africans...a run out looks their best chance at the moment and even that's unlikely!!

They won't get a runout if he keeps hitting boundaries!

88 out of 114 he didn't have to run.

Hughes out for 115. What a great way to get to 100, two sixes in a row.

Hughes is just brilliant to watch. new age batting, two sixes to bring up the ton is unbelievable. Good toss to win the saffers look a little disinterested. What the hell was ponting doing?

I didn't understand why Ponting followed a risky shot with another one especially since the just moved the mid off back.
After a great start by the openers we needed the captain to build upon the momentum and not throw his wicket away.

                      He's rebounded well hasn't he?

For all of the gritty, "determined" tags, he can score his runs exctitingly, not to mention quickly. To firstly have 10 fours with his score at 52, and then to bring up his ton with two sixes shows his class, as well as his ability to excite. Can't wait to see more, hopefully for a long loooong time.

Australia all out for 352 ... both Hughes and Katich getting tons ...

South Africa in reply are 2/2 ... Johnson getting McKenzie caught behind and Amla 2nd ball duck plumb in front

Saffas are in strife. Some life in the wicket today by the sounds of it, with our middle/bottom order collapse and their top order falling over. 3 out for 6 and Smith off injured.

Let's bowl them out for 50. Really smash them.

96/4 but Smith and Kallis are off injured. Johnson has 3 wickets and two retirees.

Well we have them right on the ropes at the moment. At 7 for 137 and with Smith very unlikely to bat again we are in a very strong position.

That Johnson delivery to dismiss Boucher was a ripper.
