    That's good to hear.

I just get this funny feeling, that his test career might be cut short because of the way he handles the short stuff. Hopefully he can be taught how to get himself out of trouble against those deliveries, he definitely has all the other attributes to play test cricket.

Yes, it will be an interesting to see if Hughes has a few more tricks to his batting than just a good eye.

By the way, Watsons just made 50 off 31 balls.

When up and running, he would probably be an automatic selection. Got loads of talent, just his body breaks down.

Let's hope he is over all the niggles.

I'd be very tempted to replace North with him for the next test match.

Watson out for 50 caught by Kepler Wessels son. He's normally a keeper but is playing as a batsman in this game.

The same North that just made a 100?

                Very, very stiff.

Agree, but with Johnson bowling poo we another bowling option in the team and North's offies are garbage.

O/N we bowled Northants out for 217:

                  McDonald 4/15 off 11 (Also made 32 & 75)
Johnson 1/65 off 11 - Only wicket was the last to fall
                  Watson 1/34 off 10
                  Clark - 2/29

He isn't a good enough batsman to hold his spot in the top 6 at the test level.

When has he batted at 6 for Australia? Hauritz has his spot not North.

He doesn't, he isn't good enough to bat at 6 at test level, he got found out in Sth Africa, he made Mitch Johnson look like Bradman with the bat..

Why does he have to bat at 6? He would play more for his bowling more than his batting. Besides they give batsman more chances than 6 test innings, he managed a 50.

He doesn't necessarily have to play at 6 but if he can't hold down that spot with the bat then he has to replace a pace bowler because he won't be replacing Hauritz.
I think he would be a waste of a batsman to come in at number 8.
