Johnsons 3rd over was much better. Starting to get the radar going with better line and length.

        Hussey!

        What a catch.

We aren't making the most of the bowling. It's frustrating to watch at the moment.

Bopara gone, England 3 down, Australia well on top

Nothing gifted about it, good change of pace off the back of a very good spell.

Poor shots by both Bopara and Cooke IMO. Bopara is 'one paced' in that he goes hard, and Cooke went fishing.

Johnson served up a mixed bag, hardly very good.

Would really like to see Collingwood out quickly.
Particularly this week - another failure for Collingwood would look pretty good.

Honours about even depending on how well we bat. We need a first innings lead with the pitch showing signs off turning. The 3 quicks were all dangerous at different times and all took 2 wickets. Siddle was a little unlucky in his early spells but got the 2 last recognised batsmen with a good spell of swing bowling late in the day. Hilfy got his 2 wickets not through swing but by banging the ball in around off stump so that was pretty impressive.

Bopara at 3 is a weakness we can exploit all series IMO. Looked out of his depth against Siddle and Johnson.

Hauritz bowled ok and looked a chance against KP all night because of his desire to sweep everything. Still think we would be better off with Clark or probably McDonald for a point of difference. There was a period where M.Clarke and Hauritz operated together which was ridiculous, gave us little chance during that period and allowed them to just milk runs at minimum risk.

I agree with your comments on Bopara - a most unimpressive number 3. That one that got him on the throat just missed the bowlers foot and he played a long way from his pads. When you pick up the bat towards gully, you're always going to struggle.

Hauritz will do better in the second innings. Finger spinners invariably struggle on the first day - he kept at the task.

I wish they would give Katich a run.

Struggled to watch Hauritz and Clarke bowl in tandem. Must have been speeding up the over rate

probably evenly poised, you'd like 20 or 30 less runs on day 1. But then again happy with 7 wickets. Ponting's captaincy is way to negative allowing the game to drift in the middle session with negative field placings, they pick Hauritz yet punter has 4 on the fence!!
