Good thing we don't have another specialist opener who has a healthy average after almost winning an away series off his own bat either...

It's just a joke. Shall we all agree that Shane Watson is NOT a Test opening batsman now? It really is a slap in the face of all the batsmen we have opening in the Sheffield Shield here.

An opener has to set the tone for the rest of the batting line-up -- chuck some part-time 50-over floozy up there and sure, you may get a few runs here and there, but you can bet your ass that when they flop -- and they will if they're not cut out for the position -- the rest of the team will follow suit. Voila.

You would have thought a selection committee made up of two opening batsmen (Cox and Hilditch) would know better, but then again, maybe they're just bitter for never getting a decent run at opening at the Test level themselves.

I've always wondered why you couldn't still use Warne as captain, make him 12th man and field him all day at slip

We need to make 466 with 2 days to spare and we have 10 wickets in hand. We could still win this.

History would say that is very unlikely. The openers have got us off to a nice start but as we have seen for the majority of the series things can change in a hurry for us.

Your probably right but i won't be surprised to see us win. South Africa came from a similar position against us in Perth(if my memory serves me right).
