Went out to Melbourne park today
Smallish crowd, but enjoyable win from The Aces( on the improve)
Real pitchers park even with the fence in . Aces seem to have more overseas prospects on their roster this season. Very impressive is young Texas prospect Joe Burns and Jon Hussey was exceptional this afternoon.
Aces have taken the first three from the appallingly named Bite . Yuuuk

Is it the Baseball Centre at Altona that the Aces are playing at?
I've seen it lit up a few times driving past on the freeway.
Made it out to quite a few Monarchs games back when they were up and running, its a good stadium.

Yep, they've spent some money on an artificial infield and basically tidied the place up.
They've brought the outfield fence in for more home runs .
Enjoyable day/ night

Maybe not so much now but before the factories were scattered around it , it made me think of the movie, Field of Dreams.
Stuck in the middle of a paddock, "If you build it they will come'.
From memory it was one of the proposed sites for AFL park before they decided to go to Waverly, because of transport issues.
It's better to die on our feet than live on our knees.

Which is kind of odd given its right next to a freeway and a train line. Its probably more to do with what side of the Westgate its on.
Went along this afternoon
Tremendous pitching with the Aces defeating a strong Perth heat 2 1.
Wind's a big factor at Altona , with it blowing in ensuring its pitcher friendly.
Watch for young Aces Starter Joe Burns( very impressive)
Aces have a very good line up compared to last years ordinary one.
The Aces have turned the season around, putting together the sort of baseball I expected from the preseason.
Thorpe and Burns have been good value.
I'm going Sunday, booked seats in the Chairman's Club, recliners on the first base line. Looking forward to it, the staff at the Aces put in a lot of work and if the baseball the lads are producing keeps up they might finally get some reward for effort. I recommend everyone get along to at least one game before the season wraps up.

Correct. It's a good facility well serviced by PT and road but it is just a bit far out. If it had been built near a population centre it might have been better.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
Went out today and Melbournes 4 seasons in one hour come to the fore at Altona.
The wind made simple plays look incredibly difficult, and a credit to both clubs putting on a spectacle.
Adam Bright ( son of former test player Ray)didn't get an out and managed to hit 3 hitters!
Perth won 13 11 and the series was tied 2 all. Didn't catch the whole game ( hypothermia set in)
The standard has improved markedly on season1, and as Molly would say do yourself a favour and have a look.

And yet now you have Point Cook, Williams Landing and Seabrook all growing exponentially just around the corner.
Season over, we missed out on a fin as berth by the slimmest of margins. Results came down to the final day's play of the season with 3 teams tied for the last spot.
Inability to it done away from home is holding the ball club back.
I think having the Japanese players go home after Xmas is hurting.
The roster continually changes as well, which the fans can't connect to players.
Something that needs to be looked at.
