4.5 Asian Zone
3.5 North, Central American and Caribbean Zone
13 European Zone
0.5 Oceanian Zone
4.5 +1 (host) South American Zone

In the Asia Zone we are up to Round 3 where Australia have been drawn to play Saudi Arabia, Oman & Thailand, both home & away.

To progress to round 4, we need to win or finish runner up in the group.

As a result of last night's 1-0 win in Thailand, Australia have advanced to round 4.

In round 3, there are 20 Asian Confederation countries, playing off in 5 groups of 4. The top 2 in each group advance to round 4, where there will be 2 groups of 5.

Round 4 will be played between June 2012 & June 2013 where each country will play the other 4 countries in their group, both home & away with the 2 group winners & runners up both qualifying for the World Cup.

The 2 countries finishing 3rd in each group will play off over 2 legs with the winner to advance to round 5 where they will play off against a country from either South America, North America or Oceania.

The final round of qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup draw (Asian Confederation) was made today in Malaysia.

There are 10 countries, who have been drawn in 2 groups of 5.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the World Cup finals, while the two third-placed teams playoff for a further spot.

I was at that game in 1997. It was against Iran & Peter Hore certainly had a profound impact.

In Group B Japan have won both games scoring 9 goals without conceding one & lead the group on 6 points. Australia & Iraq both have a point from their only game (Australia held to a goal less draw overnight in the heat of Oman) while Jordan & Oman both having played 2 games are also on a point apiece.

Huge game on Tuesday night in Brisbane as Australia host Japan. Will be tough coming back from the heat & playing 3 days later.
