Japan will be a tough one, but three home games should help get us there.

I will try to go to most of the games here, even games in Sydney.

Oman did us a favour last night. 3 games at home now which we should win and one tough game away to Japan. We definitely aren't playing our best so far in this round of qualifying but we are still there.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda! Lucky to scrape out a home 2-2 draw against Oman. Thank heavens for Tim Cahill.

Surprise too with Jordan defeating Japan 2-1, makes our task that much harder, given we have to travel to Japan in June.

Yeah it looks like a tough road ahead for us to reach Brazil 2016. Japan from the table are clearly doing the best on top with 13 points and then we come in 2nd with 5 points only on GD. From this group stages who goes in automatically?

Near on impossible I'd say. Watched the game and thought some of the tactical decisions were insane. Two holding midfielders at home to Oman? Cahill and Schwarz our two best and they are near the end. No creativity in the midfield, Bresc should have started, perhaps Oar as well, Kruse looked the only one likely to beat his man. Our defense is a joke, Cornthwaite and Thwaite were shocking, Neil has been ordinary but he is still our best centreback.

Questions have to be asked about Holger, this long ball into the box rubbish looking for Cahill's head seems our only option going forward.

Didn't watch the game but from what I heard on the news late last night we were very poor in the first half and better in the second half. We also lacked flair.

We are 3rd with 6 points, Jordan are 2nd with 7 points. Top 2 go through, 3rd place plays the other 3rd placed Asian Team for the right to play a South American team for a world cup spot.

Hardly impossible, if we win both of our remaining home games against Jordan and Iraq and avoid a large defeat away against Japan then we will finish 2nd and go through. Granted the way they played last night these will be difficult tasks but clearly achievable.

Played poorly last night but it still took some miracle saves from the GK to stop Australia winning.

What was worrying besides Kruse that nobody took the game on.
Dead right with the two holding midfielders I thought we were playing Spain.

I'd much rather qualify the hard way and have a game plan bedded down and a squad full of youth and depth, as opposed to the Pim Verbeek method of easy qualification with essentially the same 11-12 players, followed by rabbit in the headlights stuff at the big dance.

If we can get a result in Japan, we should still qualify. Anyway it's good to go through a tough qualifying campaign to get the squad seasoned and ready for any eventuality come the World Cup.

Agree Sedat. However if we don't qualify it would be a disaster. To miss the biggest show on earth and especially the biggest show in earth on the spiritual home of the beautiful game would be a tragedy.

I want to go to Brazil ..... badly.

Now ever since qualifying for the 2006 FIFA World Cup it's an expectation which is a good thing because we would be very disappointed if we didn't qualify.
