    Re: 2011-12 EPL Thread

The FA Community Shield between this seasons Premiership winners Manchester City & FA Cup Winners Chlesea will be played at Villa park.

The final is scheduled for the day after the Olympic Final is staged at Wembley, which is why it isn't being used.

Don't they use it on consecutive days for the FA Cup Semi Finals?

So, at midnight tonight West ham take on Blackpool in a £90million, winner take all clash to return to the Premiership at the first time of asking after both clubs were relegated last season.

West Ham won both games played during the season comfortably, but that's all water under the bridge.

(Speaking of which, Liverpool or some other EPL club should really look at RDM, then. I think he's better at a bigger club with some money to spend and some talent on the books.. his tactical nous is wasted at the bottom end of the table.)

ps. if Chelsea win the CL, RDM would have won the FA Cup AND Roman's holy grail of the European Cup, all in half a season, yet they'll still get rid of him? Madness.
IMO that's the only way he'll keep this job, but missing 4 of our starting 11 I'm not very confident.

It's almost exactly what Chelsea has required after a succession of highly-paid mercenary coaches have failed to deliver or inspire. RDM's done more in Europe than anyone except Jose, who also only made one CL final with Chelsea and had more than half a season to do so.

Why the desire to look elsewhere? Has RDM said he's not staying?
RDM has done a wonderful job of repairing the damage AVB did in his short time, but I guess he's not seen as the one needed to rebuild our side which we are currently in the middle of.

ps it was Avram Grant not Jose who steered us into the CL final.

The surface maybe a worry after the closing ceremony.

Edit. Don't know how I got closing ceremony out of your post TCD.

I'm betting the IOC have it written in the contract that the stadium they use for the opening/closing ceromonies cant be used for a certain amount of time prior to and after the Olympics. The IOC are almost as bad as FIFA when it comes to being unreasonable.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Oh yeah! Poor Avram... gets no credit for doing a pretty good job. At least as good as Hiddinks record with the Blues.

West Ham United have been promoted to the EPL after defeating Blackpool 2-1 at Wembley.

Just to re-cap, promoted are Reading, Southampton & West Ham while relegated are Wolves, Blackburn & Bolton.

I don't think we've heard the end of this. Liverpool got the rule changed because of making lots of noise to UEFA AFTER winning the CL, I'm sure Spurs will have something to say as well.. we all know that nothing is set in stone with UEFA as long as money is still talking.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the EPL bleat and UEFA let Spurs go into qualifying.

So we would have 5 EPL teams into the CL next season?

Can't see UEFA changing the rules again.

Love your work. It was a funny feeling hoping Chelsea would win this morning.

Didier Drogba leaves Chelsea having scored 157 goals in 341 appearances. He is the club's fourth all-time highest scorer, his 34 goals in European competition is a Chelsea record by 10 goals and his nine strikes in nine cup finals has contributed immensely to the most successful period in the club's history.
                            It's now official.

Eden Hazard announced this morning that he is signing with Chelsea, very happy with this.

Now Hulk, Dembele and Van Der Wiel please.
