You blokes would love it if they finished below us but played Champions League anyway. That would be the icing on the cake for Chelsea.
I would prefer to have that top 4 spot locked away before the CL final, but if it did happen I would prefer Arsenal to miss out over you guys. I have a soft spot for Spurs as my brother is a pretty big supporter of them.

          Gee that would be shock
          1) Wes Brown being fit
          2) doing anything for United, the few times he graced O/T with his pressense he invariably did something completely daft.

Two unbelievable, freak, awesome goals from Cisse probably kill off a tired looking Chelsea's top 4 hopes. To bad we didn't have RDM in charge for the whole season.

I guess at least I've got the 2 Cup Finals to look forward to now.

                  Re: 2011-12 EPL Thread

Third spot is now oh so important, given Newcastle's win away this morning at Chelsea. It means Chelsea have virtually no hope of finishing inside the top four.

Remember, England is only permitted to enter four teams into the Champions League & with Chelsea already into this years final, should they win it, they will be one of those four sides, along with both Manchester Clubs & whoever finished third.

                  Third, Fourth & Fifth are:

                  3. Arsenal - 66pts, 24GD - to play: Norwich (H), West Brom (A)
                  4. Spurs - 65pts, 23GD - to play: Aston Villa (A), Fulham (H)
                  5. Newcastle - 65 pts - to play: Man City (H), Everton (A)

Of the three, Newcastle have the harder two games, so I think they might finish fifth, a great effort & one their fans would have taken with both hands before the season started.

Pretty similar fixtures for the North London neighbours, so it could even come down to goal difference.Should Arsenal & Spurs find themselves level on points & goal difference then they will be separated by goals scored, currently Arsenal have netted 68 times, whereas Spurs have scored 63 times. Hard to see Spurs clawing that back, but let's say for arguments sake they were tied & a European place was at stake, then they would play off for that right. I guess the team finishing third will be supporting Chelsea in the Champions League Final, well, you would, wouldn't you?

                    Re: 2011-12 EPL Thread

Now, lets turn our attention to the basement. Wolves have already been relegated & will be joined by two of Blackburn, Bolton, QPR, Wigan & Aston Villa.

Here's how fifteenth to nineteenth stand:

                    15. Aston Viilla - 37pts, -14GD - to play: Spurs (H), Norwich (A)
                    16. Wigan - 37pts, -22GD - to play: Blackburn (A), Wolves (H)
                    17. QPR - 34pts, -23GD - to play: Stoke (H), Man City(A)
                    18. Bolton - 34pts, -31GD - to play: WBA (H), Stoke (A)
                    19. Blackburn - 31pts, -28GD - to play: Wigan (H), Chelsea (A)

Hard to see Blackburn surviving given they're away to Chelsea, so I'm saying Blackburn are relegated.

You would think Villa would only need a point to survive given their superior goal difference & even though they're in terrible form I'm thinking they may just get one at home v Spurs or more likely a dull 0-0 draw at Norwich.

Wigan play the bottom 2 teams & should have no difficulties surviving. A remarkable effort given where they were at Christmas, but wins against Man Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle & Liverpool in recent weeks has seen themselves move out of the relegation zone.

I think its going to come down to QPR or Bolton. They're level on points but QPR have a much superior goal difference & this could be crucial. Both teams have a home game they feel they must win, no ifs or buts, they have to win. Should they be level going into the final game, Bolton will feel comfortable that a point at Stoke would be enough, given QPR travel to Eastlands to play Man City. I'm thinking the Stoke v Bolton game is the big one & it wouldn't surprise me to see Bolton nick a point & stay up, but only just.

The CL final is 19 May, so 4th will have a wait to see whether or not they qualify.

With the last round of EPL games on 13 May, it's going to be a long week for whoever finishes fourth.

The loss to Wigan over the weekend is super costly now.

Still can't believe he kicked a couple of goals like that, let alone in the same game. Absolutely unstoppable.

He has got to be close to buy of the season, £10 million 12 games and 13 goals.
