What is going on with the wicket over there. Australia 6/115, but a handy lead.

Clarke and Hussey called it the dryest track they'd ever seen, its a day four pitch already and only going to get tougher. In saying that I still think we need a few more, the Sri Lankan middle order is huge and we have the two debutants in, not to mention it was a Watson spell of reverse swing that really destroyed them. The pitch isnt going to get any easier but we're not home yet.

Fantastic effort so far by the Aussies. Great to see a mix of the old (Hussey) and the new (Lyon) playing an integral role in the lead. And I echo everything Lantern said RE: Watson

Rain has delayed the start of play today.

Awful awful Wicket. Strange wicket considering the Aussies play so often now in the sub continent. Turned off the other night after the 20th Ad from the Sri Lankans tourism minister Tony Greig! I know Kim Hughes and Kerry O'keefe raved about Lyon last summer, very good loop.Five down and should get the desired result tomorrow.

Is is reallly that bad a wicket in terms of entertainment? I would prefer watching a Test on a pitch like this instead of the featherbeads we and most of the Wrorld now serve up.

Completely agree, its good to see batsmen having to fight it out, a bit of application and runs arent impossible

It got a bit closer than I expected but in the end a comfortable win.

With Ponting returning home for the birth of a child it means Marsh will come in and bat at 3.

Does Copeland get another run? He did nothing wrong.
Lyon was somewhat disappointing in the 2nd innings but could we play 2 spinners in the 2nd test?

Seems to be but he looks like he should be able to bowl a bit quicker.
He keeps the runs down but I'm not sure he can be the sort of wicket taker we will need.
Bowls to the conditions though and has some ability with the bat.
