    4 for not many.

No surprise to Mike Smith who he declared the NZ bowling the best in the world. That makes them the best batting team, the best bowling team, with the best captain. Must be the wicket keeper letting them down

He is to neutral commentary what Slobbo is to neutral journalism

This really should have been a 3 test series. Instead they begin 5 ODIs...Cricket shoots itself in the foot again

With this sudden obsession in cricket with rankings. When team's tour anywhere we get these lopsided itinerarys to get enough of one sort of cricket to qualify to be included in the ranking system we have to rate the best Test, ODI or T20 cricket teams.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I think it has more to do with cash and TV ratings to be honest. ODIs can be spread around the county grounds getting as many pockets filled as possible, and for better or worse TV audiences still love one day cricket.

Although ODIs have staged a big recovery. A few years ago they were crickets' version of basketball. Innings tended to be interesting at the start and usually exciting at the end but largely formulaic in the middle 30 overs and that's how we ended up with T20 cricket.

But some of the World Cup matches had all the drama and tension of a mini test matches. They were what ODIs hadn't been for a long while-almost fascinating with batting collapses and heroic fightbacks. High standard fast bowling and spin bowling. No trundlers bowling ten boring overs of exactly the same ball and taking 0/30. And it established Ireland as the best cricket team in Europe.

I went off fifty over cricket for years but I'm enjoying them again now.

Good win by NZ (by 200 runs) to tie the test series. They are a pretty good team and will look forward to the next Australia v NZ test series.

England have only won 1 of the last 5 test series, so not in good form at all.

Apparently New Zealand would rather play ODIs anyway:

Sadly not three tests, but an odd series to be honest .
First test the kiwis held the upper hand, only to squander it.
This test England were 1/ 200 odd and should have got 450 to 500, and put pressure on NZ's second dig.
The kiwis have a good one two punch with Southee and Boult, but the third Seamer is a problem.

NZ players two warmup games against county sides but most of their players were at the IPL. They ended up playing a bunch of kids who promptly flew home just as the Test series they'd been warming up for started.
