Re: 2013-14 EPL Thread.
We have some top of the tree players, I'm sure we can land more.
We do pay huge wages but not silly huge.
We are currently a great side.
You need the right players for the team anyway. A team that fights for each other is better than hired guns.
Must be fun to win stuff that other people won for you.
I will get sick of replying soon... I promiseThe curse is dead.Comment

You would think it would be Bale type money if it happens, just as long as you spend it better than the Spurs did you'll be fine. The curse is dead.Comment

Re: 2013-14 EPL Thread.
What a season, what a ride. Liverpool were one of the best if not the best team to watch in European football this year. Certainly the most entertaining team in the EPL, the mix of attacking/midfield brilliance and defensive calamity had everyone guessing what will happen next, all the way to an improbable title chance. Many clubs and supporters now fear Liverpool again.
Gee, we sure smashed some good clubs off the park and created periods of tension against lower teams. Liverpool eclipsed expectations this year regardless of what happens in the final round. 11 wins in a row? Just incredible. A century of goals! The English kings of Europe have sure been the entertainment kings of England!
A return to the summit seems a far more likely reality now than it did for many years. Fenway sports have revived the club off the field and fair play rules may even the field even more in coming years. For many tangible and less tangible reasons, Liverpool are the greatest club in the world, a rich history of success and tragedy with fans pervasive to all corners of the planet, loyal fans as Rooner mentioned, there has always been lots of shirts around and a sense of camaraderie from the other side of the planet. Liverpool fans aren’t the band-waggoners that other clubs enjoy. The Adelaide supporter groups have been a riot, win, lose or draw, incredible atmosphere, singing all the way from before to after and during the game.
Very proud of the progress of Liverpool this year to where they rightly belong again. To come from 7th last year to title contenders up to the last game has been an amazing turn around for a club without the resources of the teams around it. To think that in December the depth of the team was sorely tested in that a teenage reserve team defender played against City in December, very unlucky not to take some points that game too, such is the belief Brendan instills. Other teams may have had more injuries but those teams had a far greater capacity to absorb them.
Lots of Schaudenfraude around brought on by a desire to be in Liverpool’s position. Bring it on, I’m proud, millions of us are. Good luck to you all.
Brendan Rodgers has been amazing with his game plan and his man management he has really created the careers of many of Liverpool’s young stars and given the great Stevie G (the Chris Grant of EPL!) hope in his twilight years. A new four deal is well deserved for this, still learning, up and coming manager.
Flanagan, Sterling, Henderson, Allen and Sturridge have come from questionable to world class in one season, have a look at the England team, these guys have years together on various competitions.
There are plenty of quality young reds waiting in the wings too and some decent players on loan.
Skrtel 7 goals, Torres 4.
So next year and beyond… a young team and more money available with the lure of Champions league certainty. Another year into the young players. An awe inspiring captain. The big names will come, more so for football than for money.
Football at fenway! Liverpool vs AS Roma at the red sox to come.
When you walk through a storm….
Congrats to Man City for the consistency over the season and Chelsea for their ability to force teams to play on their terms. Brendan has a bit to learn from these guys yet.
Oh and… go the Roar! Classic final of defence dominating before an injury turned the game on its head.
So begins the Rodgers era.
Brilliantly said Marcov, I too are very Proud and the way you put it just says how hard the run home has been and to even get into the Position we did in the end was preety incredible. The improvement and upside in this team makes me certain that our time will come and our near future is very exciting.
Those who are hoping Suarez will leave are doing just that, hoping. No matter what the offer or from whom, I have no doubt he will stay and take europe by storm. Even a full season will be exciting to see what he can do.
The supporter groups you mention are incredible from start to finish their support has been noted all the way back to England.
As for City they had 60 anxious minutes this morning when the rain tumbled that sapped further energy. On Sunday they have a Liverpool Strikeforce heading their way, it may only be Downing and Carrol but you add in Kevin Nolan who I hear is a huge Liverpool fan and you at least have a team wanting nothing more than to win.
A fight to the death which is exactly what City don't want when the whole world has given up and congratulated them on winning the League after only leading for a tiny moment....Expectation is a huge weight that only the best can carry....and weight will stop a train..
So I am going to wait and not give up hope, nothing is ever what it seems. There is still 90 minutes and we will ride every minute of them.Comment

Re: 2013-14 EPL Thread.
Why don't the PL fixture Big Clubs against each other in the last round? It's a bit like the last stage of Le tour where, providing no one crashes, everyone finishes where they were before the games were played with the predictable fixtures for the likely contenders. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

That's really admitting it's an inequal league with only a handful of clubs any chance to win in any given seasonIf you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

I was dreaming of a sneaky one nil at sixty minutes this morning. I just hope we win our game well to finish on a high note. Carroll owes us a few million thoughthe fat lady hasn't sung yet but it would be a hell of a final twist. Our luck will be they draw and we lose on goal difference!
A Carroll header, the Pendulum swings....then they level in the 92nd and we lose on GD...
Whatever happens, the City game from a couple of weeks ago was the one for me. It had it all and I'll never forget it.Comment

Yes it would be a hell of a twist, if ever you could believe it this season is the time.

Funnily enough I didn't get the same enjoyment... 2005 CL semi on the other hand..
Ergh, that slip by Gerrard is burnt into my brain by the shear pain, disbelief and shock of the moment. Dafuq just happened???
How were you feeling before that moment? Liverpool were in the ascendancy but were struggling to penetrate.
Just remember Istanbul marcovComment
