For a bloke that supposedly digs in, he sure throws his wicket away a hell of a lot. Not up to it and should absolutely be replaced next test.

Yep he's just a nothing player, can't dig in and fight and not enough talent to play with flair. It's the same with all of those first class journeymen, anything other than their absolute peak form and they are exposed.

He should've been given the arse 5 tests ago.

Doesn't sound like a good start to our batting after our great bowling. Need to get those runs on the board and get a lead.

Clarke out for a duck. Everything going to plan, bowlers bowl superbly to give us an advantage and the batsmen hand it back through technical and mental weakness.

Who do you reckon Stache in the batting line up will get the bulk of our runs.

Smith starting with a really promising innings, unbeaten 37 at the end of the day, playing his natural game.
Cowan's dismissal was awful. Clarke copped a damn good delivery imo.

Captain has to do better than that, so bloody disappointing.

Peach of a delivery thou. You don't want one of them so early in an innings.

Doesn't matter how good a ball the one to Clarke was. He has played inside it. It's never bad luck or just a good ball when you get bowled that way. Didn't get behind the ball.

All is not lost. Sun may come out tomorrow and the 2 at the crease looked pretty comfortable at the end (Swann to Hughes maybe not so comfortable). Hard to imagine worse conditions for us to bat in than what we were presented with last night. Poor light, ball hooping around and a pressure situation. Best thing going for us now is we are only 140 behind and the 2 at the crease plus Haddin will take the game to them. All have plenty riding on these innings. Lets hope that hunger translates into match winning innings. Only need one of them to go big.

What? That was a fantastic ball from a highly skilled bowler.
The batting's a major issue again!
Blind hatred of Clarke is disappointing for mine.

Would of got anyone out that ball. Particularly early.
Pretty ordinary pitch for day one, and you'd think the English authorities would want 5 day games at least.

Can't be too disappointed with his dismissal when you get a corker like that, Kevin "biggest knob in the game" Pieterson on the other hand, his dismissal equalled his personality, rank.

This is the ashes series and I want to see the Captain stand up. Yes a great ball, and I can see what you are saying.
