1st Test- England V Australia, Trent Bridge.

It all starts tonight, 8pm our time.

    Cannot wait.

Looks like the pitch is going to be a little more spin friendly than previous times at the bridge. Really hoping a change of coach and an improvement in team moral will lead to a very competitive series.

    Go Aussies!

Got a new 60" LCD TV for the series, picking it up on the way home from work.

I tried to get the extended warranty we they guarantee Australia won't lose on it, but aren't offering it this series

I also cannot wait, obviously we go in underdogs but really looking forward to seeing what changes Boof has made, batting line up's etc, the inclusion of Chris Rogers was a brave yet great move imo, his first class average as far greater than Cowan.

Our bowling stocks look good, really hope Bird gets a game.

Although the teams wont be known until just before the start, the probable teams are being reported as follows:

Australia (probable) 1 Shane Watson, 2 Chris Rogers, 3 Ed Cowan, 4 Michael Clarke (capt), 5 Phillip Hughes, 6 David Warner, 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Mitchell Starc, 9 Peter Siddle, 10 James Pattinson, 11 Nathan Lyon

England (probable) 1 Alastair Cook (capt), 2 Joe Root, 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Ian Bell, 6 Jonny Bairstow, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Graeme Swann, 11 James Anderson

Warner should consider himself very fortunate to hold his spot over Steve Smith. Siddle's lead up form has looked indifferent, however he is the leader of the attack and an absolute workhorse who often makes the break-though when not much is happening. He's also the number 5 ranked test bowler in the world so deserves his place.

For England I don't know much about Bairstow or Root, only that Root has the potential for some cracking headlines.

Will probably tune in tonight. Hopefully we can be competitive against the English in this Ashes series. The Ashes will be going up against the EJ Whitten Legends game

Hopefully Ponting is right. So if his predicting a 2-1 win for us in the overall series then 2 tests he reckon will be drawn.

I'll be keen until the predictable 3/20 comes into play.
Swann's going to be a factor on a dry wicket.

Roots exactly what the Aussies need in the batting order.Good technique and temperament
                  Aussies need a root! Booomtish!
I remember Bairstow's old man in the late 70's, being a feisty wicket keeper.

What would be a good 1st innings score for us if we do bat first. If we bowl first how many runs would be too much to give away.

I'm going to Bob n Paul tonight but I'm genuinely excited for this. Looking forward to seeing how Warner goes at 6, but I can't see him staying there too long; Cowan at 3 is stupid.

Wheres the BIRDMAN~! What does Peter Siddle offer that Jackson doesn't, except in lesser quantities?
