      Very good.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Does anyone else think that last night's innings might be the making of Phillip Hughes as a test match batsmen? I really hope it is because I think he is a huge talent.

Putting his head down over the bat and grinding an innings like that must have given him a lot of confidence in his ability to play at the top level.

He looked the most comfortable and assured that I have ever seen of him. Just seemed to take control of the situation and play with a very good mix of control and flair.

His footwork is still very unique and will get him in trouble on various occasions but I can't fault that effort. Here is hoping for a big series. I'd still promote him to number 4. Clarke is most comfortable at 5 and clearly plays his best cricket there.

I would bat him at no.3.. Cowan either opens or doesn't play.

I think everyone is ignoring the elephant in the room here and overlooking the genius captaincy from Clarke, sending in 10 night watchmen befor the batting line up comes out. Really caught the poms by surprise.

Matthew Hayden must feel like a fool today:

Matthew Hayden has slammed the selection and performance of debutant Ashton Agar for the first Ashes test on Triple M's the Grill Team.

"I have never laid eyes on this boy," said a bewildered Hayden.

"I have not seen him in grade cricket, first class cricket - maybe I need to get a rum and coke and get down to the indoor.

"They are well and truly out with that selection."

"Who the hell is Ashton Agar?" was the question on many people's lips after seeing the name appear on the Australian cricket lineup for the first Ashes test.

To be fair to Hayden he was made to wait a long time and had to make a lot of runs before he got a Baggy Green. I can understand his point but it may be a bit harsh on Agar. It's not his fault he got a spot so quickly after his first class debut.

Living in Queensland, how would he expect to see Agar playing grade cricket in Perth? And when was the last time a Sheffield Shield game was televised?

Agreed, but sometimes best to stay nothing.

I'd make a change and drop Cowan, but I would leave Hughes at 6. I'd move Smith to 4 (just seems a more natural number 4 than Clarke) Clarke to 5 and bring in Khawaja/Warner at 3.

What about in the second innings, does he move to 8?

Agar has to bat in front of Haddin. Eventually could bat at 6 as the all rounder.

Cowan dropped for Khawaja or move Hughes to 3.

Clarke is fine at 4 so i'd leave him there.

A lot for the selectors to think about for the next test.

Unbelievable that England are still favourites on sports bet at $1.65...aust are $2.65
To think that he poms are really 2/15 due to their deficit.
