It's such a stupid situation now.

I would expect him to stand by his mates and tough it out for the team. I would never want to play with a guy who quit like that ever again. Graeme Swann is the same, he took the slightly less cowardly step of retiring mid-losing series, although his pathetic justification for it was almost as weak.
You were on the money 'stache. I took Trott's diagnosis on face value at the time because depression and high anxiety are horrible conditions. But it appears as though he simply couldn't stand the heat and wanted to leave the kitchen. On its own that is a very piss weak decision but it is the height of cynicism and disrespect to real sufferers of depression and anxiety that he used this as reasoning for his abrupt decision to leave the country. The likes of Trescohick should be disgusted with Trott for effectively trivialising depression.

Funny that Waugh has now said he sympathises with Trott.

Sad to hear. Apparently anxiety related. Perhaps tried to put on a brave face when saying he was making a comeback.
