Our raison d'être is to finish in the top 4 and get past the group stage of the European Cup. Then the money flows into the Corporation and Ivan and Stan and the Board are happy. We haven't had a proper go at winning the title in years now. Our recruiting is all over the place, we've been crying out for a decent Centre Half for how long?
I think your fans are part of the problem. This is a group that celebrates topping Spurs and even went to the lengths of naming a day out of it. We've been shit for 20 years and have considered our last 5 years (best finishing position as 4th) as our most successful period in a long long time. And yet fans celebrate beating that with such glee?

I think you under estimate the rivalry between the two clubs.

Nah I don't not at all, but when you have a celebration with 3 weeks of the season left and sitting in 4th position you can't then come out and complain about league position and lack of ambition shown by the club.

I complain about that all the time. I do it ceaselessly. I'm doing it in my head while I am writing this.

But I love beating Spurs. It's one of the reasons we exist.

Yeah but thats my point. You do it whilst celebrating beating a team that has done nothing in nearly 30 years and it kind of loses its meaning.

Anyway good win for Spurs. Should have a cup final to watch this season.

I guess that living in Australia that it isn't a very good reason, but it's the geographical and historical rivalry, more so than the level of competitiveness that is at the crux of the enjoyment of beating Spurs. You could say "what has Liverpool done in the last 20 years" but I still enjoy beating those bastards who tormented me in my youth.

By the same token I will never tire of flogging the dead horse of West Indies cricket.

Most of the games are about to get underway. It's fun listening to alll the goals coming in from around the grounds. Especially the shock goals that give lower ranked teams leads over respectable opposition.
