For all of his faults Watson's bowling has become the most mature part of his cricket, injuries have slowed him by 5 or 10 k's but he cuts the ball, he swings it both ways, he mixes up his line and length and genuinely thinks batsman out...it's a strange outcome for a guy who isn't a thinking cricketer but with ball in hand he has matured into the archetypal 'old pro' and a wonderful fourth seamer in all conditions.

At about the 50 or 60 over mark tonight the ball was genuinely reversing, both Siddle and Marsh had it hooping around but couldn't strike at a time when a breakthrough may have sparked collapse. It really was a critical juncture in the game but Khan and Misbah handled it so comfortably it turned into a non-event. On the subcontinent you need wickets in those important little periods when ball has a chance to gain some advantage over bat and you need them in bunches or else batsman just never get out. I would have loved to see Watson in those conditions because he is in my mind the best reverse swing bowler in the country
There's the problem at the 50th over, by then Watson is already off the ground injured with a hamstring while fielding in slips.

I'm not sure what to make of the efforts of our spin bowlers. Pakistan have just looked so comfortable against them

Solid reply thus far at 64/0, Warner seeing it like a beach ball

I've just tuned in. I've been a part of mid week Sheffield Shield game crowd bigger than this. If ever an argument could be made to say this is on for TV rights this might be it. I'm sitting thinking I hope our guys don't get injured ala NAB Cup TV preseason footy. It's a shame the world being what it is that we can't have cricket in Pakistan.

Both opener doing pretty well, need to match the Paki's score plus some I imaging or we will be in strife with our spinners.

Rogers will guts it out but has looked shakey, big candidate for LBW if Hameez or Babar get one to slide on with the arm. I like the look of this leggy- Shah, so few legspinners these days are prepared to drop the arm to 2 o'clock and give it a real rip. He will spin big on days four and five

They really do compliment each other though, if Rogers was not with Warner you would contemplate his spot in the side.
When Warner looks Shakey Rogers looks like a rock and when Rodgers looks shakey Warner seems to perform.

Good session by the two openers and certainly a foundation to build on.

I haven't had time to keep an eye on state level cricket in recent years. Who is the best leg spinner coming through?

Thought the same thing watching last night after his first delivery.

He will be extremely dangerous to left handers when the foot marks get worse outside off stump.

Muirhead is very young, very raw but very talented. Needs to find some consistency and isn't quite Sheffield Shield standard at the moment. Cam Boyce from Queensland is next cab off the rank, he looks quite nice, has a good googly and is relatively accurate but doesn't strike enough especially with the stock leg break, he needs a breakout year. If you had to choose one to play tomorrow it would probably be Boyce, Fawad Ahmed has quickly been cast off as too loose
