If you had to choose one to play tomorrow it would probably be Boyce, Fawad Ahmed has quickly been cast off as too loose
And this has been the consistent issue for all of the young leg spinners that have been pushed through the system over the last decade or so. The talent developers want fast, flat, and accurate leg spinners. Anyone who gives the ball a rip and some air, especially if they're a bit inconsistent, get pushed aside for leggies with minimal upside. So we're seeing a constant type, no spin, no threat with their stock delivery, and relying heavily on their wrong'un to pick up wickets.

I can't see us producing a decent one in the foreseeable future.

It's a very good point. We may have lost the next Stuart MacGill because we were so busy finding Shane Warne

Wickets just aren't conjussive for spinners here( specially for offies)
Overseas they need the doosra, as the sub continent feast on our spinners

To be honest I doubt a young Shane Warne would even get a look in nowadays, he'd be cast aside as too slow and not tight enough. We're desperately trying to find the next Mustaq Ahmed.

Australian wickets are great for leg spin bowlers that give it a rip and who generate bounce. I much preferred bowling on the pitches here than I did in say England (except the English players were easy wickets because they're such terrible players of leg spin), and on average the larger grounds here give you a little bit more leniency too.

Looks a long way off the level Doolan, I don't think he's worth persisting with. Just a run of the mill Shield player, similar to Ed Cowan.

That Clarke wicket is a big one, Warner has been absolute wonderful though

Big wicket of Haddin. Does anyone else thing Marsh bats like Tom Moody?

Enough batsman got a start but only Warner went on with it. Did we make an error going in with 2 spin bowlers?
Do we have a technique problem against good spin bowling? We faced a very inexperienced attack but struggled once the openers departed.

Depends on if your captain is a conservative type I guess.
Bowled a bit in juniors and you can get some tap, but highly rewarded

More gaps on a bigger ground. Swings and roundabouts.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Doolan will be extremely lucky to get another test, looked clueless

Michael Clarke chooses not to review his LBW playing forward to the spinner with bat and pad together...replay's reveal it was bat first too! Now the night watchman Lyon is gone, we're in all sorts at 49/4

This isn't a strong Pakistani team and yet we still look inept against their spin bowlers that wouldn't otherwise be selected.

We need to select players with better batting techniques and while I know we are probably committed to Mitchell Marsh for the foreseeable future but we don't really have the quality batsman than afford us the luxury of an all-rounder at 6 on turning tracks.

Hughes for Doolan might be considered for the next game but the selectors might stick with the same guys

I almost wouldn't mind Smith at 3 in the next test as a stop gap. He's in fantastic nick, has the temperament and counter-attacking game for it. I still doubt his technique against the seaming ball early in somewhere like the UK but to me Phil Hughes should either open or doesn't play. Alex Doolan probably has one test left to save himself from the scrap heap to be honest
