This was also well documented at the time of the trade.
Was forgetting this, thanks for the reminder.

Pink lady's are the pink Morphine tablets. There are other colours denoting different strengths, I've forgotten them now, but pink was about mid strength and the most popular.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Quite a few of the posters here are having a go at Daniel Chick. Let's not forget, Mainwearing died from a DO.
Counsin's brain is fried. Direct or secondary influence, WC haven't ever really had to front the AFL to explain their side.
Regardless of Chick's blatant self interest, with the Essendon saga still simmering away, it's hard to see how Eagles can be overlooked.
It's being wise after the event though. It certainly needs to be said but where was he when the likes of Dale Lewis raised the issue or when Akermanis challenge the accelerated development of players. Both of these guys were crucified for expressing their opinions.

Lets hope the AFL investigate this properly.

The timing of this leaves a lot to be desired. Would have been far better to have come out when the spotlight was first shone into the dark corners where the cockroaches, that planned and plotted Essendon's experimental peptide and supplements programme, congregated.
Will be interesting to see the AFL's response. "Shoot the messenger" is one phrase that springs to mind.

From the sounds of things Chick still had a drug addiction at that time.

Yep shoot the messenger will be the play here.

I find it laughable that anyone takes what Chick says with anything other than a grain of salt.

I also find it laughable that anyone thinks a season or two of outstanding performance can be maintained by senior players completely strung out on drugs like this story presents they were.

Smashing drugs to the regimented extent this guy claims is over and above what anyone can get away with. I'm calling bullshit of the highest order on this one.

Chad Fletcher did go into cardiac arrest in Vegas one off-season and was a whisker away from death.

                      Re: Daniel Chick

Fletcher did and to be honest if this was put in front of WADA they would be nailed on circumstantial evidence on its own. Underworld figures saying they supplied masking drugs to Cousins, a number of Eagles players (Kerr / Aaron Edwards) heard buying Special K on phone transcripts, Gardiner allegedly dumping his car because he was rocking on Coke, Mainwaring falling over on a cocktail of drugs and then there's the whole underworld connection.

The alleged masking drugs that were supplied by the underworld are where most elite sportspersons source their drugs, they are top line and will mask most of the souped-up heavy prescription (and highly illegal) performance enhancers.

I think Chick is more right than wrong.

                        Why?

If I am correct, your argument in this post is his claims are exaggerated. Yes they took drugs, but no, not to that extent.

All of this has either been largely speculated on for a number of years or admitted to as being true. Why are we doubting what Chick says??

I've heard so many things I need to be convinced its not true.

I don't think he's proved himself to be of reliable character over the course of the years. That's just from picking up bits and pieces in the media since he retired, and getting the impression he's genuinely washed up and probably a little effed in the head.

Smashing coke, amphetamines, booze and pills in your spare time and playing league football under the level of medication he claims to have doesn't seem like a realistic proposition to me. It wouldn't take long for something to give way and the wheels to fall off, which didn't happen for quite some time.
