Saturday forecast is 35+. Can't imagine it would be too pleasant in the afternoon at Sedat Park.

What are the AFL's extreme heat policies and when do they kick in?

Geelong probably get a default win.

        That sounds about right.

My goodness, it's been 35-degrees every day over here since Christmas. Absolutely brutal. If Freo aren't ready for those conditions then they aren't rready for ANYTHING.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I think iv read that the AFL extreme heat policy is simply more water carriers ,and depending on how hot it gets over 35 a drink break , and longer , quarter , half , 3/4 time breaks.

another reason, why the season should not start too early - use to be end of March

We've had a couple of Vic ex-pats training with us this year and they literally cannot believe the temperatures during pre-season in Perth...it's been absolutely relentless.

Tigers vs Blues will be a no contest , Tigers this year will really struggle.
Hawks vs Dons will be a tight game in the 1st half , but then the Hawks run away with it because of their pace .
Geelong vs Fremantle , great game here , i think Freo really push the Cats right up till the end , with the home crowd just getting the Cats over the line by a few points .
Sydney vs Brisbane , im thinking Gulden is a much bigger loss then the Swans think and taking Mccartin away from their back line is hurting their structure down back , so Brisbane by 3 goals .
Collingwood vs Port will be tight again till half time but then Port start to dominate after half time and run away with the game .Pies looked really slow last week and Ports runners will take control of the game .
Adelaide vs St Kilda , Saints dont look a threat to me this year and Adeliade will account for them pretty easily , so a big win here for Adelaide .
Melbourne vs GWS , good game here with the Demons getting their midfield back together ( Petracca / Oliver ) will push the orange tsunami right till the end , but after last weeks performance GWS look really strong and i think they get the chocolates in a close game .
West Coast vs Gold Coast , eagles stay in the game till 3/4 time but fade in the last quarter and loose by a few goals .

I have Freo over Cats (weather), Sydney over Brisbane (round 1 advantage + home + Brisbane unable to train), Pies over Power (Collingwood will kick straight and Port have no forwards) and Melbourne over Giants (no ruckman vs Gawn is a bad plan).
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Fair call Freo vs Cats if the weather gets to 34/35 but the prediction now for Geelong Saturday is around 33 so not as hot as 1st thought , the Pies i have my doubts about this year like i said they looked really slow ,Sidebottom and Pendlebury both got caught a few times and looked slower this year and their kicking for goal last week was atrocious , so they better have tidied that aspect of their game .
The Melbourne GWS game no ruckman i get your train of thought but last week Cameron was almost Pies best and they still got trounced by GWS , but i do like your thinking .

Can’t believe I’m going to say this, but Melbourne v Giants looms as a fun watch. If Melbourne bring the contest, could be enjoyable.
