Gold Coast would be foolish to accept picks 7 & 9 for pick 3 in this draft. But they are known for it.

Might depend on who they want Doc...with the rumours of luko, Rankine and the kings stating they won’t go there, they might be happy with picks 7,9
I will never see #16 the same!!

Perhaps under Clayton but I can't see them doing it. They should just stock up on the best talent and if I were them it would be looking to add the best midfielders available. They will have their 2 choices between the likes of Walsh, Smith Rankine and Rozee.

If those 4 were available with picks 2 and 3 who would u go for mate, knowing that certain players would not want to play with them ?

I wouldn't care about who may or may not want to play for them but Walsh and Smith probably fit them very well. There is a slight risk for any non SA team taking Rankine but given his talent level that shouldn't discourage anyone.

The absolutely should in my opinion. I can't think of a reason not to take him

Also Port appear to be getting a 1st round pick for Polec and perhaps Wingard as well and they have their own pick 9. In a draft that has a very strong contingent of players from SA They have positioned themselves well to take advantage of that.

Last year it was all about acquiring players via Free Agency and they even let Trengove leave for nothing and this year they see to have a focus on testing the market for their players a year before they might be lost to FA so they can better control the compensation.
If that part is true it's going to be something a lot of clubs follow and we will see an even greater level of players moving clubs.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and state that I can't see North getting any better simply because they add Polec and Gaff. They were widely tipped to finish in the bottom 3 or 4 this season so a lot of their playing list played out if their skin this year and that's not gauranted to happen again next year. I think that if they bring Polec and Gaff in the risk will be that those two will just cover the drop off in the players who played well this season.

North are in danger of adding cream to a cake that won't be there, they would be better off returning to the draft and drafting decent players which is something they don't do a lot of and it's in danger of showing. If I were the recruiting manager the last thing I'd be doing is throwing silly sums of money around.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

But do picks 7 and 9 want to go there? Since that's the bar to determining a good deal for them apparently.

Didn’t Gaff say he was looking to stay at West Coast ?

I understand that all depends on his fathers health. To be brutal if his dad dies he will stay in WA and if he lives he will return home to Victoria.

You might be right mate. Being able to assess where your list is at - not where your most optimistic eye thinks it is at - is surely both the hardest and the most important element of any trade decision.

I like both Polec and Gaff - I also like Shiel and Wingard and 100 others...but that is their current output in their current roles with current supporting players around them and current coaching...who knows what happens when they move??
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Over estimating our list is a lesson that we have learned the hard many times as bulldog supporters. We did it as recently as 2016.

Rocket used to have a saying "if you really want to know what's going on at your club, ask someone at another club"

I might do this if I wanted mids. Oftentimes the best mids in the draft aren't the first ones picked OR are late risers up the draft board. If they want kpp's, they should just hold and pick.

SEN were saying that even Scully was being mentioned in trade scuttlebutt. He is turning 28 next year so might not quite suit our list profile but definitely a player that has attributes that are needed at the WO.
