The key defender enjoyed a breakout season with the Crows, averaging 16.3 touches, 8.3 interception possessions and 4.7 ground ball gets (all considered elite by Champion Data).

Keath was twice recognised as best on ground this season - Round Six against St Kilda and Round Eight against Port Adelaide - polling three votes in each game in the 2019 Brownlow Medal count.

The 27-year-old also led the Club for intercept marks per game (2.7).

    At a glance (AFL):
    Games: 18
    Disposals per game: 16.3
    Intercept possessions per game: 8.3
Ground ball gets per game: 4.7

    Best game:
    Round Eight v Port Adelaide

It’s hard to top winning a Showdown Medal, especially in just your 20th AFL game.

Against the Power, Keath was a defensive rock as the Crows kept Port Adelaide to just three goals (from 50 inside-50s) by three-quarter-time.

And the plaudits didn’t stop with the medal… Keath was awarded 10 Coaches votes (a perfect score) and three Brownlow Medal votes.

Keath finished the match with 26 disposals, seven rebound-50s and six spoils.

Jon Ralph tweeted someone last night he’s going to Dogs (he thought) or Saints (McClure thought). Josh Jenkins was asked today about Keath shopping around and Jenkins said it’s his right to do it.

So I'm going to jump on this again as I've stated before I would have him as recruiting priority.

The Connors statement means that at the end of 2020 they will assess what to do. If we haven't been presenting ourselves as a future home for him then we should be. We would have to be an attractive option for him given our need for KP players. If we were fortunate enough to get some kind of agreement I wouldn't be too worried about missing out on the likes of Keath, Howard etc

How we get him here will be the challenge with our draft picks next year likely to be used on our NGA & F/S prospects. But I think we can make it work. There is always a way. Something like us trading our 1st round pick this year for a first round pick next year so we have 2 x 2020 1st round picks. It will be ideal if we could do this with Saints as they would be likely hot competition for Kings services. That might be attractive for them however as they are clearly being aggressive this trade period, if not there is bound to be another suitor. If successful we have 2 x 2020 1st round picks and a 2021 1st round pick to trade with. They will surely be enough to secure 2 of the brightest KP prospects in the land, King & Jamarra.
If we manage to get either Keath or Howard, would we need him?

Howard probably not. Keath is maybe the right age that King gets time to develop without us pushing him into playing on the likes of Tom Lynch before he's ready.

I'm reading through Tom Morris live trade blog today on the fox sports website. He says Dogs are favourite to land Keath. St Kilda still a chance. Not likely to stay at Adelaide.

That puts Jon Ralph & Tom Morris in the 'dogs favourite to land Keath' group.

And where are the Hawks in this calculation? I know they're there somewhere. Bastards.

Patton, Sam Frost, Jamie Elliott &/or Dougal Howard (keeping Isaac Smith) so the blog went.

Sam Frost and Howard would certainly have them covered in the KPD department.

                        Any interest?

St Kilda defender Daniel McKenzie's name has been floated as a potential circuit-breaker in trade talks less than five months after he signed a fresh three-year deal with the club.

No to rebounding defenders. Trade for needs.

Yep, the rebounding defender position is something we can cover easily even (God forbid) with a couple of injuries.

I won't bother linking it but there is an article on the HUN (Jon Ralph, Jay Clark, Sam Landsberger) that lists 30 players that might be on the market. Most of it is nonsense but it includes everyone from Tim Kelly to Chris Masten

The interesting points is that according to the article we aren't linked to Dougal Howard but Essendon and North are and there is no mention of Alex Keath. They regard Bruce as a lock

They update it every day, and as I can tell, they've not included Keath since starting it. There must be some degree that they don't want to be wrong and look silly, unlike Browne. As I posted last night, on Twitter Jon Ralph said he thinks Keath is coming to the Dogs. But he said that in the office yesterday, Sam McClure thought he was going to St Kilda. So a split in the office.

Then Tom Morris says us today, and our name being left out of Dougal Howard discussions 'might' suggest we've found our KPD elsewhere. Maybe.
