He will be an interesting watch for us as Boyd could have filled a hole in our list, that said i wonder if the club are seeing Dom Brew as a more viable option to help out English and the mids with his full on high pressure tackling game? where's Boyd could easily become the next Sweet and simply rot away in the VFL, also with Kennedy coming in we will most likely see a different set up in the middle, with a higher focus on that pressure game to help the likes of Bont, Treloar, Richards etc, plus Libba isn't getting any younger.

At a pure guess but we are committed to Brew and are happy enough to use Gardner as the 2nd ruck man if it comes to that. I think that's the plan with the rucks but I don't believe its a good plan. Brew will do okay if he gets a chance.

Maybe Boyd just chose the Saints over us? Doesn't mean we didn't try...

I'd say that is correct. We tried but the Saints were a step ahead of us.

Ideally it would have been nice to bring in both as we do need a back up ruckman who can play right now if needed, I guess the club obviously see Darcy as the other ruck option anyway although it would be nice if he played the majority up forward where he could dominate for us in years to come as he can play deep and Marra roaming up a bit and Naughton running further up the ground if needed, i like Brew though as he's purely a high pressure player who loves to tackle, which is a point of difference to a few others we have brought in from the VFL who haven't quite been up to the mark, that is exactly the type of player/s we need.

Not sure about Gardy, love the way he competes, gives 110% and just puts his body on the line very much like Dale Morris but think he'd be monstered by most of the AFL ruckmen.

Not sure Boyd would have wanted to come to us seeing English, Darcy, Lobb, Smith all on our list , at the saints, Marshall and Hynes ( coming off a knee) seem the only ones ahead of him, so realistically his chances of playing senior football seem a lot greater at St Kilda , with Brew a real high pressure player as others have mentioned is a real need for us , as long as bevo plays him where his most suited, and doesn't have him languishing in a forward pocket .

It will be the back pocket

I think it's a good shout. He obviously saw more opportunity at the Aints and success doesn't matter to him

I feel as though that if we do address our issues in the middle of being bullied around at times (the Hawks final a good example) in fact the Hawks in general just love to play us lately and with bringing in some hardness, grunt and pressure players into that mid mix it will also help English out given his shortcuts as a tap ruckman, but get that right with bringing in Kennedy, Brew is exactly that player we need, but will he be good enough at the highest level to have a similar impact as he does at VFL level? i guess there will only be one way to really find out, Garcia, West, Weightman given more time in the middle can also help us out, think Garcia could be a real asset if given more time to be our real nasty piece of work in there, this can only help Timmy out in the long run.

I feel as though (i'm also guilty at times) that we tend to focus too much of what Tim cannot do well, but how about if the mids actually lifted their game to help him out in that area, but when things don't go our way what is Bont doing? What is Treloar doing to help? Libba? Ed?

I get it and if Brew lines up in the back pocket ill spew up hehe, but seriously iv watched a lot of dom at Werribe and i can tell you he doesn't take a step back and throws his body into tackles with avengeance , his a left footer who hits his target more times then not , he has said it himself , put me in a professional environment and i will thrive , and from watching him this year i have no doubt that he will be the surprise packet that all other teams will be saying damn Liston trophy winner why didn't we pick him up .

Just a quick word on Garcia i dunno if you guys can remember, but his last year of 18S football he was actually tearing it up , playing as an on baller and centerman, he was one of WAs better players , most pundits had him going top 30 before doing his knee so maybe just maybe his finally releasing his talent , very glad he resigned .
