I think that she may have done actually.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

        Re: Carlton

Probably not surprising to hear from the inside the place was a rabble this year. Hope Gibbons gets another chance somewhere.

‘Bitterly disappointed’ Blue opens up exit meeting, ‘incredibly stressful’ club culture

Delisted Carlton player Michael Gibbons says he was “bitterly disappointed” with the club’s reasoning for cutting him and admitted the highly-publicised footy department review had a significant impact on the club this season.

Gibbons’ perseverance to become an AFL player was one of Carlton’s feel-good stories over the past three years, coming in as a pre-season pick in 2019 and playing 47 games, quickly becoming a fan favourite before the Blues’ decision to delist him.

While admitting he could see the “writing on the wall”, Gibbons said he was baffled when the club told him his best spot was in the midfield, given he was used almost exclusively as a small forward despite being elevated from the VFL as an elite onballer.

“When I first got there I was a pretty dominant midfielder in the VFL. ‘Bolts’ (Brendon Bolton) was in charge when I first got there and the need for a small pressure forward was basically the only way I could get a spot on the list,” he explained on SEN Breakfast.

“So I went for that, but then in the end, the three years I spent there, I was solely focused on that and I genuinely enjoyed putting time into that.

“In the end, when they gave me the flick, the justification that they saw me as a good midfielder and that I play my best footy in the midfield disappointed me a bit. They said they see me as a really good midfielder, but I never played one minute in the midfield for the Blues unfortunately.

“It never really occurred to me at the time because I was happy playing as a forward and learning the craft that way and thought I was contributing that way. In the end they sort of didn’t see it that way I guess.”

Gibbons, a two-time VFL best and fairest player, said he’d put his case forward to new senior coach Michael Voss, but held “no grudges” against him for the final decision to part ways.

It has been an eventful season for the Blues, with an external review into the football department resulting in the departure of coach David Teague, while the club has changed its president and CEO heading into 2022.

Speaking about the review, which became one of the season’s biggest storylines, Gibbons said the focus on the club had taken its toll.

“It was incredibly stressful,” he said.

“If you talk to anyone throughout that time, a lot of people will try and play it off, but you’ve got coaches who don’t know if they’ll be there next year having to perform weekly and stay positive and players in the same position.

“It creates a, I wouldn’t say toxic (environment), but it’s pretty unspoken to a point, but when you sit down and have a chat to blokes towards the latter end of the year, it was getting to everyone.

“It’s no fault of the media, but it was in the media every day and it becomes a bit of a cycle.”

The 26-year-old said he felt Teague was “pretty hard done by”.

Gibbons said he is “100 per cent” committed to trying to find another AFL club to continue his career at, having made it at the highest level against the odds before.

            From Code Sports

            Carlton season 2025 preview:

There was cause for optimism for Michael Voss’s side in 2024 but an eighth place finish was below expectations after a preliminary final appearance in 2023. Do the Blues have the list to contend this season and does their newest young gun draftee walk into the starting line up? Josh Barnes analyses the burning issues at Carlton for 2025.

            SURPRISE PACKET OF 2024

Elijah Hollands arrived at Carlton with a question mark after a drugs charge but once he cleared suspension, he was locked in as a high half-forward who can run through the midfield. He slotted 17 goals and added a bit of spark for a Blues side who rely on their steady stars.

            INS AND OUTS

IN: Ben Camporeale (No.43 draft pick, father-son), Lucas Camporeale (No.54 draft pick, father-son), Harry Charleson (Rookie Draft), Matt Duffy (Category B rookie), Nick Haynes (free agent, Greater Western Sydney), Harry O’Farrell (No.40 draft pick), Jagga Smith (No.3 draft pick)

OUT: Domanic Akuei (delisted), Jack Caroll (delisted), Matt Carroll (delisted), David Cuningham (delisted), Sam Durdin (delisted), Matt Kennedy (trade, Western Bulldogs), Caleb Marchbank (delisted), Jack Martin (delisted), Alex Mirkov (delisted), Matt Owies (trade, West Coast) CARLTON'S BEST 23

FB: Nick Haynes, Jacob Weitering, Adam Saad
HB: Jordan Boyd, Mitch McGovern, Nic Newman
C: Sam Docherty, Patrick Cripps, Oliver Hollands
HF: Matt Cottrell, Harry McKay, Elijah Hollands
FF: Jesse Motlop, Charlie Curnow, Zac Williams
FOLL: Tom De Koning, Sam Walsh, Adam Cerra
INT: George Hewett, Blake Acres, Jack Silvagni, Jagga Smith, Lachie Fogarty

Michael Voss has been forced to draw on depth too often in the past two years as the Blues were hit by injuries, but this squad now has strong depth. Marc Pittonet, Lachie Cowan, Brodie Kemp, Corey Durdin and Orazio Fantasia are all ready to play big minutes but didn’t make our cut. And then the youngsters like Ashton Moir, Ben Camporeale and Billy Wilson should be pushing. This is a squad with good depth, even if some extra midfield speed hasn’t been found yet.

            WHO’S PLAYING FOR A CONTRACT?

One of the biggest contract stories of 2025 promises to be Blues ruck Tom De Koning. The athletic big man signed a two-year deal in 2023 that surprised even some at Carlton, after he was courted heavily elsewhere. His worth and appeal has only grown since then, expect St Kilda to lead a big push to wrench him out of Ikon Park. The offers could head towards $10m over seven years. Next season looms also as a big year for Jack Silvagni, coming off a major knee injury and heading into the final year of his deal. Can he finally lock down a clear role?

            LAST YEAR IN CONTRACT

Adam Cerra, Adam Saad, Alex Cincotta, Billy Wilson, Brodie Kemp, Cooper Lord, George Hewett, Harry Charleson, Harry Lemmey, Jack Silvagni, Jesse Motlop, Mitch McGovern, Nic Newman, Nick Haynes, Orazio Fantasia, Rob Monahan, Sam Docherty, Tom De Koning

POSITION THAT NEEDS TO BE FILLED AND WHO CAN FILL IT?

The Blues clearly didn’t work hard to keep Matt Owies despite snagging 33 goals last year. That puts the pressure on Jesse Motlop, Corey Durdin, Matt Cottrell and Zac Williams to kick goals at the feet of Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay. The Blues rate Motlop and he has only just turned 21, so there is still some development left. He bagged 24 goals in 2023, time to lift that into the 30s.

            BURNING QUESTION

Can the Blues stay on the park and finally find consistency? Arguably no team has as many A-grade players as Carlton and the support is there for this team to be a premiership contender. In 2024, the Blues couldn’t get there as injuries wore them down. New fitness staff could be the biggest recruits at the club.

I remember big talk about the Camporeale boys all year but they seem to have slipped going by draft selection , are they as good as they were hyped up to be ?
I don’t think they have a team to challenge , top 8 , maybe a final win but I predict about the same as last year.

They will need a few things to go right for them. Great forward line, decent defense and a very competitive midfield should have them close again but they do cop a lot of injuries.

                  I can never pick Carlton.

They really were torched by injuries last season otherwise they were probably in the mix.

I expect them to be top 6 this season but I'm not sure they're really a genuine premiership contender.

Need more from Cerra to support their guns in Cripps and Walsh.

Carlton boss Luke Sayers says he is victim of social media nude image hack (Herald Sun January 9, 2025 - 12:30PM)

Luke Sayers says he has become the victim of a social media hack after a lewd image was sent from his X account with a link to the account of a senior female executive at one of the club’s sponsors.

Carlton boss Luke Sayers has hit out at hackers after a lewd image was posted on his X account.

The public post, which went viral before it was taken down, included an image of a man’s genital area with a link to the X account of a senior female executive at one of the club’s sponsors.

Screenshots of the nude image began circulating on Wednesday night, while Mr Sayers was on a family skiing trip in Italy, where he has a second home in Lake Como.

Followers of the Carlton Football Club president, who had notifications turned on, received an alert with the photograph.

Mr Sayers quickly posted “sorry my account has been hacked please ignore all posts”.
Speaking from Italy, Mr Sayers told the Herald Sun on Thursday he was “outraged” and would do anything to find the perpetrators.

“This is outrageous — I’m investigating and will leave no stone unturned finding out who did this to me and my family,” Mr Sayers said.

The former PwC CEO has long been married to high-profile charity founder and board member Cate Sayers, with the couple sharing four daughters.

The powerbroker, who now runs his own consultancy firm Sayers, has been a close friend of former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews and former federal treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

It is not the first time Mr Sayers says he has had his X account hacked, with the account now deleted.
Club members overwhelmingly voted to extend his tenure at the club’s annual general meeting in February 2024.

Mr Sayers oversaw the appointment of Carlton coach Michael Voss, who took the club to the finals in 2024.

They were beaten by eventual premiers Brisbane in an elimination final in week one of the series.

Mr Sayers who grew up in Rochester, in country Victoria and moved to Canada with his family before settling in Melbourne’s southeast, has had a skyrocketing career.

He became partner at PwC at 29 and then chief executive at 42.

                        Hacked. Yeah right.

Incredible Sayers still in his job after the PwC scandal and now this. Just go already.
