We won eight and lost four with Dunkley out last year. Our midfield can cover him. I'd prefer to keep him, but that's just how it is and I'm not losing too much sleep over him going given our midfield stocks.

JJ looks like he's staying, according to most recent reports and Hunter has had issues all year and is likely not marching to the beat of the drum the rest of the team is. Thus, being better off gone for the good of the team.

Agreed we should be excited about our possible draft hand after we secure something for the Dunkley trade.

I wonder if he'd be as eager to get to Brisbane as he is today if it's found that Fagan isn't going to be coach as his job looks increasingly at risk?

Not sure I'd be going to a club that had substantial uncertainty around its senior coach, even if I did want to be super close to my sister, my girlfriend's family and my best friends partner.
        TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Don't forget his family regularly holiday in Noosa...

It is an interesting point you raise considering the current investigation. Additionally, their captain famously wished death upon an opponent's terminally ill family member and has poor form with his own quality of character.

I'd be fascinated to know what process Dunkley undertook to ensure his new destination's culture is to his high standards.

I wonder if he ran the same culture test against Essendon two years ago when he decided on them being his destination of choice.

Yeah he did. He can't stand partying but really wanted to be reunited with a former team mate who racially vilified a team mate and shat in another's locker.

However he wants to justify it to himself is fine, but he really shouldn't be putting shit on the club through a process of media backgrounding to make it seem like it's more than just wanting a pay day and a bit of a profile.

Dunkley's apparent obsessive professional standards are now used to question his decision making.
The attempted move to Essendon was apparently as a result of the way some of our players behaved in isolation.
He became more aware of behaviors he didn't think professional footballers should exhibit. Essendon chased him and he listened.
The move to Brisbane isn't related to the previous request and it's to simplify his life in terms of spending more time with his partner. It doesn't mean Brisbane is any more professional than we are.

I'm pissed with the way Dunkley dragged on this whole which club decision but we are painting an incorrect picture of him.

Just on the examples you have highlighted, what was our clubs response in 2017 to a player being racially vilified or the juvenile locker example? Did we stand down the out of control player immediately?

                Two words: Jake Stringer.

I have been clear on many occasions that I don't blame players for getting the best deal for themself, but to say we're painting an incorrect picture of him is wrong.

At least in the "seeking more professionalism" side. If you're seeking more professionalism, you don't agree to go to a side with Jake Stringer, who you KNOW for a fact, has some "questionable" professional standards.

Otherwise, I don't give a crap about Dunkley leaving really. Very good player and we will miss him, but the team rolls on.

Jon Ralph: (GCS moving Sexton on)

“Alex Sexton is also due over $500,000 on the last year of a back ended deal but if there is little interest from rivals the club and his management might consider restructuring his deal.”

GCS only offering JJ two years, but would probably need 3 to leave.

Does Sexton still have it for a salary dump trade? Even upgrading us from Pick 65 into their possibly unused Pick 43 or 52. With a restructured deal like we did with Schache?

Sexton is a talented forward, I think he'd be an upgrade on a Hannan for example.

Not sure about his temperament but, hey, Stengle.

Say a restructured deal is two years, $300,000 as a natural forward. Age 29. Plus a pick upgrade.
If JJ stays say his deal is two years, $300,000 as a makeshift forward. Age 29.

Pop quiz hot shot, what do you do?

Personally I'd just save Sandra Bullock.

But Sexton maybe for a change.

JJ has legit speed which we lack, but a change might be good for him.

If JJ wants to stay on that sort of money, I'd keep him. He is best 22, and only missed games when injured.

If JJ wants to go, get a draft pick.

Sexton knows where the goals are, but my impression of him is he is lazy defensively and selfish offensively.

Sexton is the most Unbevo type player in the league, he doesn't chase , defend or do the team one percenters.

Jones was an elite key back 12 months ago. He hasn't been out injured and he's not coming off a long-term injury. He's also a body type that can play into his 30s. He's an upgrade on Cordy at least and probably Keath and Gardner if he reclaims his best.

Lobb kicked 36 goals this year and spent decent minutes in the ruck. If you add 36 goals to a player in our team this year with an ability to chop Tim out in the ruck (as opposed to a Cordy or Bruce), he's already making a significnat contribution above and beyond what we have.

I think its unequivocal they make us better I'm just not sure by how much.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Agree with your take. We’re better with them but not sure it’ll make enough difference for us to be top 4.
