Slightly down for a lot of key stats, but shockingly only 2 goals in 24 games. This is a guy who is a good overhead mark and can hit the scoreboard. Or at least, used to hit the scoreboard and make oppo coaches worry about him offensively. I’m kind of taken a bit a back, I know he and them wanted him more midfield. But a guy with goal scoring ability kicking only one goal on average every 12 games is a radical change. Surely he’s worth a burst forward here or there. Not just yesterday. Kind of feels like they’ve got blinkers on.

    His hitouts were down also

In basketball you don't need to ever panic with the ball in hand as you can't get tackled. You just need to protect the ball when there are opponents near you. Pendles skill is finding the space and time in heavy traffic to aovid tackles and have time to get a clear possession off. Yes, the pheriphal vision you need in basketball has some synergy, but the ability to side step, to move to where there is space, to not panic with the ball in hand when at anytime from 360 degrees someone can smash you has very, very little to do with basketball.

He is skill is not because he played basketball, he is a gentic freak with his spatial awareness matched by a professional work ethic that has to be in the top few % of all time to play the game.
But being a talented basketballer in a tight small playing area compared to football it must seem like you have so much time and space.
Pendles is one of those rare players where everyone looks to be in slow motion whenever he gets the ball and he just glides through them.
Bont seems to do it as well but not as frequently.

I'm not exactly a fan of kiss. I don't dislike them. But I thought they put on a great show yesterday.

I'm just looking at AFL tables and it does confirm that Brisbane doesn't have a midfielder that can consistently threaten the goals. While it's good that they're splitting mids and forwards they don't have a mid who can roll forward to threaten. It's a big difference compared to Collingwood who have the Daicos brothers and DeGoey who are pretty good at hitting the scoreboard.

            Interesting.

From the few Lions games I saw this year, Dunkley did not stand out.

I was aware of him out there, but I don't really recall much special stuff from him.

$800K for all that does not seem a great investment.

Also makes me wonder if the Lions' salary cap is bottomless.

              Yes agree. 100%.

It is also another key point in why Bont is a much more effective player than Neale. Neale kicked 3 goals in 25 games. Bont kicked 19 goals in 23 games.

It also highlights, that Brisbane is getting a lot more of their goals from classy small fowards that we don't have in Zac, Charlie, McCarthy and Rayner. Zac, Charlie and McCarthy all kicked goals yesterday that I just can't see any of our fowards converting.

They needed some defensive steel in their midfield to compliment their more attacking mids. And they do have weapons everywhere in F50 so don't really need him to impact the scoreboard (they had by far the best attack in the comp thie season).

But you're right, $800k on a multi-year deal is a big price to pay for basically a slightly better version of George Hewitt (that's not a knock, I rate Hewitt highly). It was a price worth paying if they pinched another goal yesterday, still might be if they can get a flag in the next year or two.

Both Bobby Hill and Dunkley requested trades to Essendon a few years ago - Dodoro couldn't get it done.

It is so dissapointing that he is moving on. I wish he could stay at Essendon for eternity.

Other than miming 80% of the show and having pre recorded backing tracks I thought they were great haha.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Not to mention they picked McGrath at #1 before McCluggage.

I was thinking that re Dunks and the ability to be dangerous up front. Even as a marking target helping connection from defence to attack. Brisbane missed a trick there.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

(I also think that he and Sidebottom are the only living Collingwood players with more than one Premiership).
Greatest Pie certainly in the modern era and it?s not even close. I don?t know enough about their history beyond that.

He?s certainly firming as a top 20 player of all time, and possibly a bit higher than that too given his resume and longevity. It?s quite remarkable really.

Let?s hope Bont can emulate Pendles in this respect too.
