They really do embrace shit humans down there.
They treat people on how they contribute to the team not how they behave socially. I think the Hawks are another side who use that sort of logic

Smith sent an apologetic text message which is what younger people tend to do rather than fronting up and owning the actions.
He has had some great football moments in his career but also a number of incredibly selfish and immature acts.
At some point these issues need to be viewed not as MH driven but acknowledged as a personality trait of Smith. It's long overdue.
Scott is a great coach no doubt and at least got on the phone and apologized to the young lady concerned but the AFL isn't ever going to push back on him.

He made that point earlier in the year. If he did something like that the media would bury him and I suspect the club would fold to the pressure.

        This from David King

David King has hit out at the AFL and Geelong’s “secrecy” after Chris Scott left a female staff member in tears after an aggressive outburst following last week’s Qualifying Final win over Brisbane.
Scott called the junior AFL official on Wednesday to apologise and will not be sanctioned for his behaviour.
The news came just a day after Cats star Bailey Smith was forced to apologise to a female photographer after he swore at her and flipped the bird at an open training session.
The AFL said it considered the matter closed given Scott had apologised but the lack of communication and explanation left King agitated.

“There was an incident involving Chris Scott and an AFL female staff member after last week’s press conference,” he said on SEN's Fireball.
“Scott’s not going to be sanctioned but he has apologised verbally by phone and has gone out of his way to clear this up.
“But I’m just not sure that’s good enough. I’m not sure that if there’s rules for some and rules for others, we need to know what’s gone on here.
“Why is this all of a sudden just swept under the carpet. This is not the time for secrecy.
"Every time players are transgressing, they’re fronting the media, they’re fronting the AFL, how come this is just disappearing and being swept under the carpet without us knowing what’s been said and knowing where it sits.
“We need to know what’s gone on. If he’s been sanctioned. Has he been sanctioned or forced to make an apology? Tell us what’s gone on.”

A Geelong spokesperson said: “The club acknowledges an interaction that took place post-game last Friday night. The club confirms Chris called the AFL staff member to personally apologise for the exchange and the apology was accepted.”

Where is Caro in all of this? Surely she is outraged, oh wait it's the Teflon Cats, nothing ever sticks to this mob. Another reason I am happy for anyone other than them to win it this year.

Caro doesn't respect women. She wrote a story during the COVID hub demonising the wives of Seb Ross and Tim Membrey for these 2 players choosing to leave the hub to be at the birth of their children in Melbourne.

            She is a filthy person.

The worst type of filthy, humourless and incapable of self-deprecation at best, or self-awareness at worst.

And I'd get it if she didn't punch down any chance she gets like your example above. She's been treated like garbage in the media from time to time, and she has copped a lot outside of that online and from other sources. But when it counted she chose controversy and dollars over protecting women, because like a lot of people in her shoes she just needs to ensure the rung down is clearly defined.
              TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Chris Scott’s aggressive outburst towards female AFL staff member triggered by presence of visually impaired reporter

Chris Scott’s aggressive outburst towards a female AFL staff member was triggered by the presence of visually impaired reporter Matt “Spider” Lee at his post-match MCG press conference.

Lee, a former SEN producer who hosts a weekly program for Vision Australia radio, was the accredited media figure at the centre of Scott’s blow up after Geelong’s big qualifying final win over Brisbane on September 5.

Geelong has declined to explain why Scott was upset about Lee’s presence or detail what was said between Scott and the junior AFL staffer.

Lee said he was “shocked” and saddened to discover that his attendance at the conference had sparked Scott’s exchange with the female media official, which prompted her to later break down in tears.

The dual premiership coach apologised to the woman five days later following discussions between league officials and Cats CEO Steve Hocking.

Lee, 45, is legally blind and suffers from an hereditary eye condition that makes his vision gradually deteriorate.

He is well known within football circles and regularly attends post-game press conferences with a support worker.

“I was a little bit shocked – and sad – to hear about it to be honest,” Lee said of his link to the incident.

“I must admit, I am a bit rattled by it.

“It’s just really disappointing that someone would say something like that behind my back.”

But the club made contact with Lee on Monday morning to reassure him that he was “welcome” at all future Cats press conferences.

“Matt is welcome at any Geelong media opportunity and there is no concern with his attendance at Chris Scott’s post-game press conferences,” a club spokesperson said.

Lee could come face-to-face with Scott again after Friday night’s blockbuster Geelong-Hawthorn preliminary final at the MCG.

The media figure is formally accredited to attend AFL matches under an arrangement between the league and Vision Australia.

Lee said he felt sorry for the AFL staff member Scott apologised to.

He said she had been “incredibly supportive” of his role in covering footy, despite his disability.

“She has always helped me because what happens with me and my support worker is we have always communicated with the media managers just to let people know that I do have low vision and it’s important that the coaches know that if I don’t see a cue or a gesture, I’m not interrupting,” Lee said.

Lee said he had been largely embraced by media colleagues and other coaches.

He asked Scott two questions during last week’s media conference.

“I just raise my hand and a lot of the coaches have acknowledged it and we’ve got into a system, like Craig McRae, he always looks across or Sam Mitchell and Luke Beveridge – they’ve all got to know me,” he said.

Lee said he had also had a run-in with Scott’s twin brother, Essendon coach Brad Scott.

“Last year there was an issue with Brad as well. He said to me, ‘Is that a question or a statement’ at one of the games – and that did rattle me, but I don’t think he had an actual understanding of what my disability is.

“And from the AFL perspective, they say that they are inclusive and diverse, well, you’ve got to be inclusive and diverse all the time, not just when you want to be.

“I suppose they are the barriers that I am trying to break down.

“The condition that I have is hereditary and I’ve had this all my life – and my vision over the last few years has deteriorated but I still have a passion and feel that I have a right to be a part of the media landscape and participate.

“That’s what I want to do and I have the skills to do it. I wouldn’t have worked at SEN for the period of time that I did if I didn’t think I was capable.

“I’ve been doing radio for about 30 years.”

Asked if he wanted an apology from Scott, Lee said: “Maybe just some recognition that I am welcome to come back into that space because obviously I want to be able to walk back in there and feel like I am included and don’t feel threatened.

“I suppose it’s just about having an understanding and an awareness of people with a disability – just to have the respect to know that everyone is entitled to have a go at the industry.

“We all just need to get better and change the behaviour. There is a stigma and we’ve got to get rid of it.”

Scott was not sanctioned for his outburst and the AFL staffer has accepted his apology.

The apology was made on the same day star Geelong midfielder Bailey Smith swore and flipped the bird to a female photographer at an open training session.

League CEO Andrew Dillon said on Monday he was comfortable with how both incidents were managed.

“Both Chris and Bailey have apologised,” Dillon said.

“We leave the matter at that. We’d prefer it didn’t happen, but Geelong has managed that.”

Wow. As poorly as this reflects on Chris Scott, what the fark is that pissweak response from Andrew Dillon, after letting the story simmer for a week and a half? Completely bleaching this story and sweeping it under the rug behind some shitty bland statement is a terrible look, even by the AFEL's lowly standards.

Ok I'm lost here. Why does he have a problem with this particular member of the press?
It can't be due to his low vision can it? I have experience here my dad had low vision and it can be confronting if you aren't aware, but no one ever reacted poorly to him just sometimes unsure.

Nice to hear both Scott brothers have little patience for differences.

Didn't ever think my loathing for any clubs would reach Depressendon levels but the Teflon Cats and punchable head Hawks come real close. Unhappy that one of them gets to progress thru to the Granny but on the other hand happy that one of them finish up this weekend.
