I agree. We also need to develop our outside game. Boys like Bale, Webb and McLean will be invaluable when they build some strength. All look highly skilled. The Angels have the phone box. Don't blink!Comment

Exactly! He gets the players name wrong most of the time, and speaks fact-less dribble. He tries to say something intelligent which is impossible coming out of his mouth. They've done studies you know, 60% of the time, it works every time!

Yep, skinniest team ever. Bob & Grant look massive next to BMW.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

I get the feeling with Bont that they let him carry a niggle with a plan to pair up a week off with the bye - thus giving him the fortnight he needs.
A young side with no Libba to share the inside load: 5 and 5 at around 100% points is very good. We've also gone deep into games with Port & Freo, whilst we've knocked off top 8 teams like Adelaide, West Coast, GWS, Richmond & Sydney.
Unlike Melbourne, we haven't managed the Fixture List by resting players for games against the big boys, then targeting the 'beatable' opponents. We're developing a game plan to beat the big boys - not dodge them.
This is a development year, so 5 & 5 at the break is definitely a pass mark.Comment

I didn't see the game as I am away for the weekend, but followed the game on the AFL app, and saw bits and pieces of a live stream of the last quarter
We were so inexperienced against a team like Port and just couldn't kick goals in the second half. Disappointed with the blow out in the last quarter which made Port look better than they were for most of the game.FFC: Established 1883

That's right.. And don't we need the rest, too!? Boyd's looking tired (remember he's 19!), I think Bont was carrying an issue for the past three weeks, Jong also looks particularly tired - which has affected his confidence. His disposal's also dropped off since he broke his hand.

We are a bloody young side, was always going to struggle in the midfield tonight and had to play forwards in there which really killed our structure. I think we were pretty good without the football again and we continue to be on the right track. We have improved out of sight, we would have gone down by 100 points tonight if it was the 2014 version.Comment

Wow harsh indeed! Are you dissapointed with the season so far? Where did you think we would be at the start of the season?

Happy with our season so far overall.
Tonight's match i would say great that we kept with them on there home turf for 3 quarters but disappointing they way it finished. Should have been right in it at the end with a chance to win. Liked Macrae's game tonight, Dahl was very good, Murph was good as usual and really impressed with Hamling. Dicko and Hrovat were decent. We just still struggle to get marks inside 50. We certainly are capable of get between 15-20 goals in a match like last week and against the Crows."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I'm just so happy - ecstatic"Comment

I thought it was a pretty brave effort from our 'pups'. Couldn't quite go with them for the whole game, but we're on the right track. Proud of the effort.
Huge next 3 games coming up that should set us up for a run at finals. The curse is dead.Comment
