Re: WBFC - Player Contract Status

Luke Dahlhaus- I think less about money and more about how happy he is at the club and how happy we are with him. One of the party boy group members, definitely can bring the intensity and some.

Tom Liberatore- A more extreme version of Dahl.

Dale Morris- I don't write players automatically off due to age. Not all injuries are just due to age and despite the constant interruptions, he is clearly worth a spot on the list. I really don't buy into having to do soooooo much to stay on the list just because you are over 30.

    Jordan Roughead- he will re-sign.

    Mitch Wallis- he will re-sign.

Re: WBFC - Player Contract Status

Liberatore the 1st son could be playing with Liberatore the 2nd son in two years potentially. I'd like to think that will focus his attention on doing the required things to stay. Maybe having his little brother at the club might make him take a leadership role as an example to him. My guess is he might and that will ground him into the player we know he can be.

Roughy & Wallis will stay. Dale will retire a club great.

Dahl is the only player I'd entertain a remote amount of time to test the market. The key factors are where we finish, and what the contract is, as to our potential compo. If it's not likely to gain a great pick, then snuff it out and lock him up.

I think in the unlikely even that they don't play a lot of senior football and get shunted back to Footscray lets see if that theory holds up.

Fair enough. He's testing the market. He's an interesting one to put a price on. Is he easily replaceable? What value-add does he provide? I'd love to keep him but only if the price is right.

I would say it's managers more than the player nowadays holding back on contracts, we all
Know how that went with a swans premiership player.
It can be very dangerous but some managers like to hold out to the last minute.

Agree with that, the managers have a lot to answer for.

Example - Sometime ago, Dusty went for an interview at GWS. They asked him who are your heroes, mentors etc. All of Dusty's answers were Richmond people. GWS asked him WTF are you doing here, he said , my manger arranged it. It was clear he didn't really want to be there. Apparently has a shit manager. (I don't know who he is.)

His manager is Ralph Carr - and he isn't your typical football player manager. He's really an entertainment manager.
The managers that only have a handful of players and aren't specialists are usually the ones that these strange scenarios come up with.

Very good player with limitations but collateral. Clubs will be into him and we can afford to lose him for the right price.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

What do you mean right price? Isn’t Dahlhaus a free agent of some sort which means chook lotto regarding compensation.

Re: WBFC - Player Contract Status

I don't think he will be going anywhere. I really like Dahl, he gives 150% and was back to his best on Sunday.

'Club is like my family': Dog wants to stay

WESTERN Bulldogs forward Luke Dahlhaus is in no hurry to re-sign with the club, but the free agent says he can't see himself playing anywhere else.

The 25-year-old was one of the Bulldogs' best in the 21-point win over Essendon on Sunday, collecting 31 disposals at an efficiency rate of 74 per cent.

That performance was reminiscent of the form that made Dahlhaus a key member of club's 2016 premiership side, where his pressure around the ball was immense.

A report last month stated the Dogs had offered up Dahlhaus for trade last year after his training standards dropped off in 2017, but the coach Luke Beveridge empathically denied the story and labelled it a "lie".

Dahlhaus joins close mates Tom Liberatore and Shane Biggs on a lengthy list of Bulldogs set to fall out of contract at season's end.

"My manager and the club are still in talks, and it's going to take a little time to get things done," Dahlhaus said on Monday.

"But in saying that, the club is like my family now (because) I've been here eight years and I love it so much, so this is where I want to finish and play for the rest of my days."

When asked about his performance against the Bombers, Dahlhaus conceded he still needs to clean up his disposal by foot.
"I had plenty of the ball but still made a couple of easy mistakes, which I'd like to take back," Dahlhaus said.

"In the end it doesn't really matter in the end because if we get the win I'm pretty happy.
"I'm getting plenty of feedback (on my game), but I'm just trying to build my game.

"The thing I'm trying to work on is my disposal efficiency, and yesterday it wasn't great, but I think I've improved a lot over the past few years and I'm trying to get better and better every day."

Dahlhaus has played 140 games and kicked 108 goals since being selected with pick 22 in the 2011 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Re: WBFC - Player Contract Status

What is the contract status of these players at the end of the season?

                          Campbell

                          Roberts

                          Webb

                          Biggs

                          Honeychurch

Many of them won't get much opportunity this year, depending upon injuries.

If they are out of contract, will many of them be seeking another club?

If so, what would we get for each? Only fourth rounders?

I guess it depends what's around to replace them , if no players are better than them you will keep them.
Biggs and Roberts I see staying on.
