Footscray defender James O’Donnell is a chance to feature in the Club’s 100-year marquee fixture at the MCG this Friday night.

O’Donnell was subbed out of the Dogs’ Round 1 win after suffering a jaw injury late in the third quarter and will be tested this week.

“James received some incidental contact to his jaw from an opponent’s shoulder,” Bulldogs Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said.

“This caused a small crack in his jawbone, which required surgery where a metal plate was put in to stabilise the crack.

“The surgery was completed yesterday, and he has bounced out well and is already chomping at the bit to get back into training.

Did anyone else notice that Naughton started on the wing for one centre bounce. To be fair he came from the interchange late and went to the wing before going forward again after the ball was bounced....but I was excited for a second.

I think Buku would be more suited to play on a Mihocek or Membrey than Cleary would have been anyway even if he didn’t get injured. Hopefully JOD gets up sounds like he should be right but if not maybe Gardner comes in for him. Thought maybe we could of also seen Garcia in for Dolan but now he’s injured as well so maybe Dolan gets another go at it.

At a bare minimum Dolan needs to only play as a sub... 1 touch after 1/2 time and no ability to apply pressure as he was absolutely cooked. The boy has lots of nice attributes, but he isn't ready yet.

Yeah I agree Mantis, he was absolutely cooked - I’m not sure what we’re doing with him, the poor kid basically hasn’t even had a single preseason.

I really really like him, but he should be sub at most right now and to be honest if he’s going to be sub, I’d prefer him getting full minutes in the VFL. Reassess in 6 weeks where his fitness is at.

You can’t play a small who can only manage 60% game time, it’s a killer. Again nothing against him I’m super excited for him, but fitness isn’t there yet

It seemed like Freijah kind of played as the more accountable mid on Saturday night. He spent time on Sheezel and LDU after half time.

Joel is always up there amongst our best runners, so I'd rather he goes with Daicos than Gallagher.

I’d possibly have Poulter as sub. Woofers said his goal kicking poor in vfl practice match. Think his confidence is down. Hope he has another chance or two at seniors as has some nice attributes. Dolan to improve stamina in vfl.

I wouldn't complain if he's swung forward while Darcy chops out in the ruck. He has some decent VFL form there in the recent past and only needs to make a tall defender accountable and bring the ball to ground.

Yep. He's in the main side or not at all.
Arty has the run to be a sub, but might get elevated especially if Dolan goes back to VFL.

Hard to tell who's in form to bring in as it's just the Werribee praccy match to go by.
