Duryea is out imo, bring in Busslinger it is time. Croft also worthy of consideration. Naughton in the ruck smacks of the disastrous and ill informed Dunkley trial. Anyone know how Lachlan Smith is going ? I await the perpetual knockers of e.g Jordan Sweet who I think we could use right now.

Darcy is capable of winning games up forward but he will have to play in the ruck
English is struggling and probably needs more support not less.
Naughton and Freijah taking some ruck work is risky in my opinion.
Lobb moving forward helps keep Darcy forward, helps English and makes sure we don't have to ruck Naughton or Freijah.

I know it exposes our back line but it could fix some of our challenges.
I also don't want to see Lobb moved forward, it would be taking away an AA quality defender (he's playing as good as anyone in the comp at CHB) and having Lobb the patchy B grade forward, almost a foil role for Darce and Naughton taking away his biggest strength, we need at least one of Liam Jones or Lobb in the backline for stabilty along with a JOD and or Buku, Busslinger, Gardner, also as a team we tend to struggle with the three tall forward structure even though we rarely see the 3 talls together up front during game time, and to the point if or when Jamarra is ready, we'll have to tinker a bit by using Naughton more up the ground i think to not congest up the forward line, same to when Cody returns who also struggles with the three talls around him, plays his best with a fairly isolated forward line.

I think JOD can also play forward when Darce is thrown in the ruck alongside Naughton and be just as effective as a forward Lobb, but Lobb is better as a defender than JOD, also didn't mind Naughton used in the ruck at times especially if he's having a quiet game to get him back in the action and find some confidence.

I’m hoping we don’t roll the dice early and bring back anyone early from injury. I would ho
        with only one change.

I would bring back Cleary or JOD. This would then allow us to push gags up and tag Cripps. He kills us every game, anyone that stops Crippa beats Carlton.

DOC needs to go ban to basics. Get a haircut and stop trying to be a cool kid. He looks to have slowed up a little and making some basic mistakes. But I’m wondering if he has a niggle and we have to play him for his experience

Baker also lucky but give him a chance. He needs to bank on his pace and show be a perfect sub. I would like to also see the sub used at 1/2 way through the third term. It’s takes them 10 minutes to get into the game
        BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

Do we make a change? Lobb's good to go, JOD wasn't that great in week 1 and Buku can do a similar job. Maybe Jones comes in over both of them?

To the eyeball, Smith is developing really well but I don't think he's AFL ready.
Seems a fair way advanced on his limited VFL form this year compared to last year.

Players to consider dropping this week, Arty and Dolan. Duryea is also a candidate to be dropped, but suspect he won't be.

We need to consider who plays on Curnow and Harry McKay (if he is fit)

The players I would have most at-risk due to form would be Duryea, Dolan & Jones.

How many changes we makes might come down to the availability of L.Jones, JOD & Cleary.

And I think JOD would be able to fill the role that Buku played on Friday pretty well, big difference between playing on Larkey and the likes of McStay & Membrey.

I think there are a few guys missing on the to be dropped list that are getting away with poor games and not mentioned. A lot of talk before the game was about Gallagher but he tidied his game up alot better than some others. We cannot keep playing small forwards who dont impact the game offensively. The difference in the game was how dangerous Collingwoods forward line functioned compared to ours. All they had to do was stop Darcy and they won. At the other end Hill, Elliot Mcstay and a few others gave us headaches. Im sorry West Vandermeer Mcniel and Doolan are not worrying opposition and if Naughton has an average day all the attention will go to Darcy. Need some others to hit scoreboard so the focus is not just about bombing it to Darcy hoping he can outmark 10 people.

I'm definitely worried about Duryea's form, but I'd give him another go this week. He has the credits in the bank.

I wouldn't be rushing Jones back. I thought Khamis was good last week, so I'd either play Buss or O'Donnell if he's fit. I would drop Dolan and Baker, moving Jones back to sub.

I wouldn't be surprised it there's no change here though.

Having watched First Crack, and the vision "Joey" showed to support his argument, that Carlton are only one handball away from being a good attacking side, I would be wary of taking them easily. His thoery is that their game is being compromised by their lack of exploiting their outside run. The runners are there, but they are not exploiting them. Hopefully they get their game together against someone else.

We planned the season for 3 tall forwards but with Ugle-Hagan missing we have settled for 2.
Darcy looks capable of ripping games apart but also needs to do some ruck work and even Naughton did as well.
Could moving Lobb forward stretch opposition defenders and him taking stints in the ruck and help keep Darcy forward more?
Ut also really looks like English needs more support.

Bring in JOD and Busslinger or Gardner and see if we can somehow cover Carlton's key forwards.

                            Talk me out of it?
So you also can be an agent provocateur?
Lobb needs to be back because VDM is forward and Ed is in the middle
Lobb is prepared to have blue hair 24/7 for this setup, totally self sacrificing his identity.

But hear me out...this is a great plan because he can and will outmark the 10 people.

I didn't think Hill did much, his two goals were the only occasion I really saw him.

I think the pies had to use their smalls more because they don't have a Sam Darcy. McNeil, west and VDM all nailed their chances which is the most important part of their games. Pressure was down - McNeil 4 pressure acts, VDM 13, West 8, Dolan 5. Mason Cox had 12 pressure acts as a comparison.

Dolan had a few moments in the second half which made me think he's starting to adjust to the level, but I still worry about his fitness and ability to impact consistently. Dolan out for Croft could be an interesting change?

I can definitely see us pulling the trigger on Croft this week. Arty has been quite poor, and Croft directly fills that role as the forward/wing while giving us much needed height up forward. His pace is a strength so not losing too much in that aspect. Plus there’s huge upside in giving debuts when we’ve got so many major players out.

We’ll be in a much better position developmentally by having trialled Davidson (probably best 22 now anyway), Dolan and Croft within the first few weeks, and Hynes/Kennedy/Busslinger/Smith all look like they could manage a debut later in the season
