Do you think his issues in the preseason with glute and a knee problem may have anything to do with it?

It may well be, but given the club's recent taste for being less than transparent about such matters, who can say?

Frustrating as it is at this early point, you'd hope it *is* simply niggle related.

I suppose I'm also voicing broader confusion about how he's been played over the long haul and team selection in general.

Be lovely if we get up today so we can give the overthinking a spell.

I don't think Boyd would make any difference today

Boyd will never dominate VFL and it’s laughable that we are paying him a million bucks a year to play 2s, particularly given he is clearly a confidence player who performs better with responsibility (PF and GF). He strikes me as a player who if you show you don’t have faith in him then he won’t have faith in himself.

Hope the kid is OK and can turn it around very soon.
I agree with this. He's learned all he can learn at VFL level and he's only going to grow when he's given more responsibility.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Hopefully he has built his fitness back after the knee knock and will be ready this week. I want to see an angry Boyd when he sees Stringer.

Like the angry Minson that tracked GWS player Ryan Griffen in his first match against us. He watches him and follows him until the ball goes near Griffen and the moment Griffen touches the ball Minson roars in and rag dolls him with one of the most brutal tackles I've ever seen. It was beautiful to watch.
