So looking like Lobb, Buss & JOD/Buku down back and Naughty, JOD/Buku up front.
i don’t love it because it really limits our options, ie if the fwd structure is just not working with no Jones we can’t possibly swing Lobb fwd any more. Would have preferred Jones & Buss down back - a lot riding on Buss now and against a tough match up so hopefully he’s up to it.
if it is dropped and not managed/inj then bit harsh on Jones, he hasn’t been great but feel he’s gotten a little bit better every week so I would have persisted personally - but tbf Buss has well and truly knocked down the door so maybe just for selection integrity purposes we felt the need to make the change.
Id suspect Buku fwd, don’t really love that as 2nd tall but there’s a heap of smalls around him and the weather might play into our hands. He just has to occupy Buckley/HH and ensure first and foremost they don’t take bulk intercept marks. I think someone like West could do a defensive job on the other one, Naughty will have his hands full with Taylor who is the best full back in the league.
Weve got enough firepower in the side to kick a winning score I think, it’s probably not how I’d have structured the team but let’s see how we go, pretty excited for this one.
Super excited for Buss, let’s give him a chance and not crucify him in the game day threads! Plenty of gun key defenders have had dodgy first outings let’s remember, stoked he’s gotten his chance hope he grabs it firmly
if we manage to pull a win here seriously impressive with Buss, Freijah, Sanders, JOD, Davo, Dolan & to a lesser extent Hynes occupying key roles across the field. The next gen looking bright!Comment

Wow I'm a bit baffled by the Jones dropping. Things could get ugly if Hogan gets a hold of us. I'm not sure this is the best game to debut Buss and that's WITHOUT having the experienced Jones by his side.
Has Jones been that bad? I don't get it honestly.Comment

I guess Buss has hit every KPI he has been set and finally kicked down the door. Liam’s form hasn’t been deplorable, but clearly not good enough to keep Buss out. I don’t think we have lost flexibility, Lobb can still swing forward if needed, it just means JOD would then swing back.
Bont, Davidson, and Freijah can also rotate as marking targets down forward. The Angels have the phone box. Don't blink!👍 2Comment

I like the ballsy call, don’t necessarily disagree with it just feel this probably wasn’t the best game against the Giants and Hogan, tough first up ask for Buss and also with the unpredictability of our forward line without it Darcy it would be nice to have the option to throw Lobb there and leave Jones on Hogan for Buss to learn off.
But anyway, no matter way to learn straight in the deep end for Buss, hope he kills it.Comment

Will be interesting to see if Jones plays VFL. His form has dropped off for a substantial period of time now, so I don't hate this move and it rewards JB.
I wonder if it would be worth plugging Jones as a key forward while Darcy is out. I'd prefer to keep Lobb and JOD behind the ball.W00F!Comment

Would create a hell of a lot of ground level chaos for the smalls to work with thoComment
