Not sure how McNeil comes in after two weeks of no footy and pretty bad in his last game

I would have liked Buku (to do the second ruck duties too), but I guess that is too many talls.

Does Poulter start as sub again?

Form on the training track, It's a calculated decision to back the more experienced player rather than the youngsters

agree. Looks like we are really trying to find the best mix for our defence. This should be our best defensive line up moving forward

Agree it’s all going to be about the mt h ups for this one.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

                    Praise the lord, good decisions.

As tired as I am of Mcneils woes in front of goal and with the ball in general it was pretty clear we missed his defensive pressure which is one of our best. Let’s hope he can refind some of that early season form, we just don’t have any better options than him right now. Maybe Arty when he comes back hopefully.

Cleary is shuffling deck chairs a bit but he did play some good footy when he returned to the twos and again, don’t have any more options here. He’s just keeping Sellwoods spot warm for mine, another big week or two in the 2s and I think Sellwood will be in - when he is I think that’s the best & most balanced defence we can put on the park this year.

                    Jones absolute no brainer

Poulter eh again I just don’t see anything he offers and would much rather the flexibility of Buku when you’re really not gaining much, another runner over a tall but it’s Poulter who lopes around doing not much so what’s the benefit? but doesn’t look like that’s going to happen so as good as we can hope for right now.

Harmes in for Poulter next week and that’s probably the best side we can put on the park barring injuries.

Even though it’s only a couple of changes there’s a clear, more defensive edge to this side than last weeks, across the ground. Another question mark on why Poulter kept his spot when he’s one of the worst culprits defensively but anyway.

All in all we’ve given ourselves a good shot and I’m glad we seem quicker this year to rectify mistakes rather than doubling down on them.

Keen for tomorrow, tough tough ask but feel we’ll be up for it. Realistically it’s likely to be another honourable loss which in isolation wouldn’t look bad but compounding on the rest of the season… cant allow it. Get the job done and we’re back, roller coaster of a season

I am surprised that Poulter is 194cm and even more surprised that we fed Dolan to the Crows 197cm winger shark (Curtin) rather than start with him.

Anyways, I did a quick google and Poulter is out of contract at the end of the year (we should really have a thread for this ).

One would think it could be walking into last chance saloon and playing for his career, so let’s see if he can have a career night.

So is playing Jones conceding the MC got it wrong last week or was he just not ready?

Not thrilled about McNeil but it says more about our lack of options. We need to draft a couple of quality small forwards.

Happy enough with those changes. Great to have Liam Jones back. Hopefully he can reinvigorate that backline.

We will be up against it most likely but if we can bring some pressure to the Lions we give ourselves a chance. It is amazing what pressure can do to teams.

In both rounds 22 and 23 last year Poulter was fourth for disposals. The three players with more were Bont, Treloar and (Dale/Libba).

That suggests he has something to offer. He was dropped for 24 and stayed out until round 10 this year.

He then had more disposals than Davidson, Harmes, McNeil , Vander. Khamis touched the ball only half as often.
Poulter was dropped and the others remained in the team.

so I don’t see him as part of the plan but I do see him as offering something.

While he had some down weeks his start to the year was pretty good and we miss his defence running in the front half.

Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?
