I think overall, our team have done a good job over a long period of time.
Clarke is one that was a bust, and that, I know, at the time, I thought would be, but everyone has those; the cats did trade for Tanner Bruhn.
The difference with the cats, is development (which the dogs are getting better at), and the coach playing them to their strengths, it is not just recruitment.
We have just gotten very unlucky with Marra, shit happens, and as someone said above, now we have to eat the shit sandwich.
I agree with Seadt, a late pick, and the team takes his salary, we move on.

If we just delist him and pay him out, I assume he can just get to any club of his choice rather than having to go through the PSD (is that even still a thing?).

Ideally we find a trade partner, but I’m not counting on many clubs wanting to part with value for him given his currency. It would be a tough sell to supporters in some ways too, given the nature of his challenges.

I could care less where he ends up.

I’m not enthused about a redemption story.

      Just let it be over.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

I am amazed posters seem happy to pay him out of his entire contract and let him go play for another club in 2026.

If the club does that this will be pissed off.

Pay him out sure, but make sure he is ineligible to play AFL footy in 2026.

I would hope the AFL put that in place.
It sets a dangerous precedent of they don't.

Otherwise we pay him out after list lodgement date so no other team can sign him during SSP.
We'd have to wait until the MSD to add a player though

I'd be ok with this in hindsight. If he sits out 2026 he will train wreck himself anyway. He can't help himself.

I'm being very harsh here but If it means he doesn't get that redemption story I'm all for it.

Honestly, it would probably be doing another club a solid.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I don't think it's harsh, he's an employee not meeting expectations despite being given adequate opportunity to do so.

Maybe when he is 40 he'll think about what a squandered opportunity this is, but either way he's FA now he needs to FO.

I agree, but is it even our choice? I thinnk the AFL is in charge of everything that happens from here

I've been surprised how recent articles have suggested what happens next is in our control, while all of the messaging out of the club was his situation including his return to training scheduling was being closely managed by the AFL. From what I could gather we provided the environment and the program, and the AFL determined whether he was permitted to participate due to the special nature of his absence.

The AFL having a big hand in what happens next worries me a bit, because time and again they've shown themselves to value PR, redemption stories, servicing the bigger clubs or just about anything rather than ensuring fairness.

Does anyone know if it is standard practice to have a clause in a contract that basically says *here’s heaps of money, but you don’t have to come to work ever*?

I know young people who are working and studying to improve themselves and their annual income is less than he is receiving for each game he does not appear for.

The club should refuse to pay him and try to recover what he has been paid recently.

Years ago most contracts had a base plus match payments meaning if you weren't playing you didn't earn as much
That's no longer an option expect for some performance triggers for contract extensions.

Ugle-Hagan has MH challenges which the AFL and the club will have to determine if there has been a break in his contract. It certainly seems to be on face value.

You know what. I feel that with Sam Power and Peter Gordon being lawyers. I think we are in an ok spot. I’m confident they will get a discredit and good outcome for us.

we just need to move him on and get the money of the books and move on.

im sure we all wish him the best but this certainly just can not continue

Yes I think we actually do not get the credit we deserve, we are lead very well and over the have settled into a great operating rhythm since Morgan came back into the fold.
