He seems like a great kid, and I have him right on the cusp of staying depending on how many list spots we have - but he's 22 and has shown no ability to get close to the footy at AFL level.

Lots of sub time, lots of injuries, but he averages 7 disposals a game across his career and doesn't do a heap at VFL level either.

I don't think 45 minutes of good footy is enough to justify a fifth year on the list.

Not sure how you can watch the game yesterday and say Arty doesn’t have a place on our list, I guess it’s our huge amount of gun small forwards coming through like McNeil, VDM, Garcia etc …

the kid was drafted at about 60kgs, finally has a body mature enough for AFL and showing his ability. Moot point anyway as he’s already been offered a contract for next year & will be staying.

I really like Garcia, but gee he was poor yesterday. His two easy misses in the first quarter and then handballing straight to Young on the wing which set up their first goal killed any momentum.

We need significant change off-field to be honest - I actually wouldn’t be that upset right now with where we’re at, IF I thought Bevo was capable of making the necessary changes to get us where we need to be. We’re actually not far off in a lot of ways, the list is nearly great bar a few positions. The players coming through are really very good, and we’re not THAT far off the best.

The issue is that we just find ourselves in the position we always find us in. Our issues are the same issues we’ve always seen under Bevo. Who really has confidence in him to swallow his pride and admit that we need to significantly adapt the way we’re playing? Hes not changing the way he goes about it 11 years in so we’ll very likely find ourselves in the exact same position next year.

Fun times, what’s that now, 8 of the last 9 years we haven’t won a final in? Is this good enough? Apparently it is for the club I guess… there was a lot to enjoy this year but geez it’s hard to swallow this.

You can't get rid of everyone. I'm assuming he gets a contract (and another post has said he's been offered one??) but it's all about projection with Artie...everything is done based on what he *might* be vs what he is. Let's hope next year is the year...

Loved him as a colts player - but I do wonder what happened to the kid who could get the ball 20x per game as an outside mid and really put the oppo to the sword ball in hand...don't believe me (and I know it's hard based on what we've seen) go watch the 2021 preliminary final...

Jones and Gus Sheldrick won that game themselves...won heaps of the footy and generally ran riot. I know, I know - the AFL is different but having a nose for the footy is something that seems to hold regardless of level - and Jones used to have it.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

              What happens now?
              that is a good question.

personally I disengage from footy for the next month and take bugger all interest in the finals. Probably more so that we have a couple of unlikeable ex-dogs potentially running around in the GF.

my interest then intensifies during trade week but that quickly evaporates due to the length of time it is on for. But then it will peak in the last hour when we here the bell and it is confirmed that both both Butters and Silvagni will don the RW&B next year.

hopefully by then we will have made some significant list changes with some of our dead weight and we can add a draftee or two.

Then head into the next season with renewed interest in the hope that we will finally reach the promised land and make the bloody top 4.

Agree with all of that, i'd even look at a future development role for Adz, i was wrong about Baker early on but he has played himself an extra season or two, sad for JJ and Liam Jones but time passes all players, Arty showed a bit before getting injured and played really well when coming on yesterday.

Strangely I think i would keep Poulter. With doubts on Weightman he might be required. Other than that agree with your list.

You serious about Poulter being a replacement for Weightman?

No - but depth in that position. Certainly not replacement.

He has consistently shown he is not up to AFL standard... I'd prefer we have a look at someone else.

He hardly played there at afl level this year when Weightman wasn’t available. Depth? He is the definition of a list clogger.

If we don't land another defender in trade or Free agency I'd be tempted to keep Jones for one more year. Gardiner has to be our last resort.

We have to get Jordan Butts. silvagni and lever are good options but both are interceptors primarily or second key backs. Butts is a must!
