He might be tall but Schache aint a key forward. He needs to get on his bike and use his supposed elite tank to provide a bailout option.

Naughton is next level and most key forwards under 21 would pale in comparison to him.

I think the best thing that can come out of the weekend is Tom Boyd getting through the game physically and mentally unscathed if it happens, because he is a massive competitor compared to Schache and we would look a much better team with him playing second ruck to English, or even first ruck.

Naughton is a freak of a player, and will end up being the steal of the draft at pick nine if this form line continues. He just doesn't care about his safety when flying, which is by far the biggest attribute someone with his marking ability can have. There's only one Bulldogs player I've seen in my lifetime in a key position that I have so much faith in as a forward, and he ended up being the best CHB I have ever seen so who knows what this kid will end up achieving.

Agree entirely on Schache. He just has to insert himself into the game , as does Gowers .
Poor tonight , both of them .

You begin to wonder on tonight’s whether Schache and Gowers are up to the required standard. I would prefer to play Greene forward who showed ability. Little point in rucking Schache when he simply isn’t good enough. Far better to play a stronger body in Trengrove. English was outclassed for the second week in a row which is a further concern.

We could have been 4-0 and equally could have been 0-4. 2-2 is probably right.

Gowers was a pylon out there tonight. He can have a spell I think. Shache was poor, but I'd persist.

The game was pretty dour, by our doing, which was good. The big shame obviously being the repeat instances of I50 =/= Goals. Need the rewards, scoreboard pressure.

Some winning moments without the win. Take great confidence from the effort and spread of contribution. That goal by Smith made my night. He's going to be a beast. Missing easy goals loses you games.

I think each have suffered from extensive attention after the first couple of weeks of the season that they wouldn't have previously. it will take some time for them to adjust.

They need time to respond, but that should possibly be via the two's.

The game was lost because we had a few more passengers than them, we missed our chances again, gifted them goals with horrible turnovers and lacked surety by hand at crucial moments.
Despite Grundy's complete dominance Collingwood's vaunted midfield was outclassed for 80% of the match.
We are not far away. But remember: they missed chances too which tempers my optimism. We need to improve our conversion rate. That is NUMBER 1 priority.
Starting next match, a dominant performance, is just the filip needed.

Can you add Duryea to that list?

I'm curious as to why Duryea ought to be in the gun. I would have thought 21 touches and 6 marks plus plenty of good contests was a fairly solid outing?

Same old story , delivery into the forward line , just bomb it in and watch it come out 90% off the time , it’s been happening for years with us.
Either find a guy who will smash the packs or take a strong mark, Haven’t seen a guy like Naughton since Templeton.
Could we try Crozier up forward ?

I beg to differ on people’s comments on Gowers , he tackled a lot and put pressure on but sadly it was when he was up the ground.
Schache was terrible but as I keep saying we don’t help our forwardsat all with our delivery.

Are we giving Schache the best chance to use that tank of his. When we stream forward after a turnover we seem to be doing it haphazardly giving him little to no room to lead up the ground.

Do we need to structure up better on the rebound?

Thought he was poor at best. Very ordinary in the contest, slow, falls over at critical times and only average by foot. I understand that we have a young group hence why he is brought in but lets be honest there are some very ordinary premiership players out there. Bailey Williams in please.

With Naughton aerial expertise I think it is giving players up the field an excuse to bomb it long as an easy out. More so now than in the past.

Moore and Howe covering Aaron we should exploited it. But we don't seem to have the smarts or skills to do it.

Does that problem fall on Grace or Hansen on how we enter our 50.

Last night had an issue in the crowd for the first time in a long while.

We have reserved seats at Marvel Stadium (same seats on the bottom deck since we moved there) and are also AFL members. So most of the games we are surrounded by Bulldog supporters and the same people for a long, long time.

Sitting in the AFL members last night. I was at the football with my Day (70) and my son (12). The people behind us were swearing. Not occasionally. Consistently and most of it was pretty offensive. I have a high threshold for those type of idiots and don't want to cause any issues. However by half way through the second quarter I turned around and calmly asked them if they could stop swearing but they are free to barrack as hard as they want.

He turned around and said "If you don't like it mate, you can all go back to the soccer".

Both my parents were born in Italy but came to Australia in the early 1950s as toddlers. I used to cop that every second week growing up (and much, much worse), but never ever thought that my son would be subjected to it. I thought we had gone past that. The guy who said it was in his 30s.

My Dad got visibly upset, but get didn't create any issues. At half time I calmly turned around and told him how sad I was that I'm still copping that type of abuse and people still think in those terms. The females he was with were horrified and were telling him to pull his head in but he didn't show any remorse. You can't teach stupid.

Bloody sad just thinking about it.
