I mean, when he’s had a run at it, he’s been a useful AFL level player. He’s just struggled to be fit. Whether he can get back to that level is debatable, but he has done it.

      Isn’t he 30 now ?
always been a fringe player and had bad luck with injuries this year , he isn’t going to get better with age .
I watched him in the prelim last week and they were saying how well he played to be honest I was dumbfounded, he made some very stupid decisions and coughed it up . For a 30 yo to make those errors in VFL isn’t good for a future contract in AFL .

Not suggesting that he’s worth holding on to, just refuting the suggestion that he’s never been a useful AFL player. I think the injuries have probably done him in, but he was best 22 for a time.

So JJ has been told to wait on another contract .
Is that a salary cap issue or seeing who will commit to us that’s at another club ?

I think it's 'you might get the 44th spot if we think you're a better option than our trade, draft and delisted FA targets'

The below are last 6 remaining. I honestly think the Fogs have done a great job to date but they will need to wrap these 6 up this week.

I wouldn’t trade Buku unless the deal suits us. Hold him as he is the best swing man we have

                My thoughts are below:
                Liam Jones: - Delist
                Anthony Scott - delist
Caleb Poulter - delist, I would rather a kid
Jason Johannisen - Delist he has had his time

Nick Coffield - keep 1yr contract.
Oskar Baker - keep 1yr deal, he has earned that

This gives us 4 spots for youth, I’m confident that we will be able to identify talent as the last few years have been great without to many misses
                BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

The club has confirmed that Scott and L.Jones won’t be offered a playing contract for 2026.

The right call. They have both been good for us but the right call to move them on.

Tough on both of them but I feel it's the right decision. With Jones the MC have lost some faith with his ability to read the ball in the air.

Also seemed to have lost a considerable amount of speed which was a weapon for him as a key back. We really need to get another key defender or two in now. Maybe the club is confident they have options they will get. I really hope so...

Not really, he was very close to hitting his marks in that regard at training. I'm probably being a bit pedantic so apologies in advance but perhaps a slight drop in speed not a considerable drop.

Interesting. Maybe it is more to do with his reading of the ball as you mentioned that has made him look slower to the drop of the ball to me then his actual speed. I still think a club or two will look at him as back up at worst.

I think it's more decision making with Jones. Even in his best years at Carlton and first year with us, he still had the odd complete clanger each game.

They became more frequent, especially his positioning and decision when to leave and impact contests. Just got it wrong far to often in the last 12 months. At both levels.

If you watched Scott in the VFL he was doing the same thing, his decision making was terrible at times .
