Agree with almost the entirety of your post , apart from two players , but thats just my opinion and thats instead of 50 /50 calls on Gallagher and Baker , i think they both move to the Short Term sign up's , apart from that your pretty spot on .

It would be awesome if one from the "sign up short term" performed at a level that we want to "sign up long term". Improvement from within the list is so important. Apart from Buss, who else could be most likely from that group?

I would say both Jacques and Smith are a very good chance to take the next step.

I reckon Jacques. I’d love Arty to become reliable enough to sign long term too (more possessions, less fumbly) & he looked like he was getting there allowing for injuries.

That first game arty played this year , even though it was only one quarter he looked like he had taken the next step , after that injury he just couldn’t find that form again ,

Please fact check me. My understanding is Jones was on the field for a total of 3 hours during 2025 and had 3 kicks.

6 kicks and 12 handballs in 4 games. Not sure about the hours

Subbed on in two, and subbed off in the other two. Approx one quarter, two quarters, one quarter, two quarters - roughly three hours.

The numbers aren't great hen you compare to LMN and VDM, the guys keeping Arty out of the side, they're fairly comparable on a 'per minute' basis and it's easy to see why many of us are keen to see Arty continue to develop and cement his spot.

Would it be better to have Kozzie Pickett or Zac Bailey in the role? Yeh sure. But of the options available to us, I'm hopeful that Arty can get fit and turn ten good minutes of football into 90+ good minutes weekly.

Your looking at his disposals which doesn’t give the accuracy of what he did , his tackling that day he was on song , his speed and attack on the ball caused some turnovers . Then bang he did his hamstring I think it was . As I said after that he never seemed to get back what he had after that first qtr.

Looking at next year , I can see up to 8 changes unless some players improve out of sight .

I think it boils down to how long do we , or can we , keep Arty on the list , if he just continues to show a bit one week then gets injured or looses form then is not seen for another 10 weeks , he must improve his consistency and get super fit , and be able to play a decent block of games , so we can finally see if the guy is going to make it or just becomes that guy that should have been better .

Are we expecting Baker and Coffield will be delisted with a promise to redraft, to make sure we have enough late draft picks available to package for Darcy if needed?

The problem is the last pick in the draft that has any points attached to it is 54. Our third pick (70) and fourth pick (74) may come in far enough after bid matching to get somewhere around there but I doubt pick 89 and 107 are going to be of any use to match a Darcy bid. They also don't have any real trade value.

I'm sure there is a plan, but I'm not sure what it is!

Yep, Arty was very good for that unfortunately very short time. Remember that rundown tackle & attack on ball, thought this is his landmark game until twang….
