WB Game Day V Richmond R4 2023 Saturday April 8 4:35pm, MCG

Mitch Hannan getting ripped for missing two sitters throughout the Ch7 coverage tonight, including the one where he couldn't move his leg because someone was dangling off it.
Don't change wankers, don't change. The story should be about the complete ****-up of the umpires, but no, let's blame the player.
TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Hosed and home.
What can you say about that? Some of our best and worst in the first half, and a second half where just enough went right for us as we wrestled the game into a real slugfest.
These rapid, catastrophic collapses are a problem. While teams are capable of putting big scores on us in a short period of time, we won’t be winning a flag. You just can’t trust the team not to grind to a halt, and potentially roll over.
At least tonight when the momentum well and truly left us, there was enough fight there to get our noses back in front and grind out the win. We never really got the momentum back in our favour though. It’s a worry.

Conversely, I'm strangely comforted by the fact we're not finding different ways to shit the bed!
If you know where the lapses are you can continue to work on them. If you break down today's game, it was really open for us to:
a.) Have multiple goals kicked against us
b.) Blow multiple chances to get back into the game
c.) Run out of puff once chances were blown
We erased b. and c. today, when I think most of us thought the sequence above was just going to roll out without any disruption to it. The good thing is if we find a way to eliminate a. then we don't have to worry about b. and c., and to me that's not a bad place to be.

The collapse came early enough that we had time to rectify things. I think the game ground down in our favour and it was a mix of our doing and the weather. The half time siren might have been our best defender.

How good was Dunstall bagging Jamarra for taking a huge contested mark in the rain because he led into Naughton’s space? Insane stuff.

It was the best contested mark of the game and Jamarra did the right thing by leading up to the carrier and leaving space behind. It was just that the kick from Smith went early and shallow instead of late and deep.
But the pissing and moaning was a bit weird. Just celebrate the grab mate.

After the ****ing shit-show in Rd.2 if you?d told me we?d win our next 2 against Brisbane who had just smoked Melbourne (bar the last 10min in a compromised game) and Richmond who have beaten us for fun the last 4-5 years? we?ll just sign me up.
Lots to work on, but it would?ve been easy to roll over at 1/2 time given the way the 2nd qtr finished? but we rolled up our sleeves and got to work and bar some shoddy finishing would?ve won comfortably.
Big boy win? bank the 4 points and we get ready for a big 2 weeks.

I think it was a big boy win for sure. The way the other results and form lines appear to be emerging have been favourable in terms of reducing the damage our early form has on our season prospects. Took an opportunity last night.
We’ve seen a real increased commitment to a physical contest, and have built two wins around that base. I had set 2-3, and 3-3 as the markers for lasting off the coach for a bit, so we’re almost out of that hole in my mind.
If we can start limiting the one way traffic, I’ll have some trust again too, which would be nice to head to the footy with.
