He does need work, but given he dropped kgs and improved his running in recent years that bodes well for his ability to work and improve.

Out of the guys we drafted this year he might have the most upside of getting into a highly professional environment and getting the benefits from that. He looked great on Monday, lean, toned and he was moving well so I'm really positive he's going to be in terrific condition when the season starts in 25.

Really big on this selection, was a bit upset none of the small forwards slipped to us but we have to remember we’re drafting for 3-5 years from now and when this kid is starting to hit his peak we’ll be at the back end of Bonts career and Libba, Treloar etc long gone.

Really like what we’ve done this year to pretty quickly rebuild our future midfield with Sanders, Richards & Hynes a nice core to start building around. This is the midfield which is going to be super important to us when our talls at both ends are in their absolute primes. Cannot afford to waste that spine with a nonexistent midfield, so I’m happy we’ve made some huge strides there over the last two trade periods

That last sentence is the key for me. Hence why I have thought it would be tough to grab a flag whilst JUH and Darcy are developing but when ready in a couple of years to dominate every week, we need a better than average midfield to make that happen.

As soon as that hawthorn final finished, I just knew that our biggest need was a big body in the midfield.

We were bullied that day, and unfortunately our biggest asset in this regard is Libba who won’t be around forever.

Like the Hynes pick simply because he can go forward and did contribute with goals ( 23, i think from memory) ,Jackson Macrae one paced inside mid great at that ,but going forward he was left wanting in my opinion, had his days granted but overall his out put up forward wasn't great hoping that Hynes can change that .

My biggest take-away was the lack of running power we had in the midfield compared to Hawthorn.

They made the field ''big'' and we couldn't go with them.

Libba and Treloar (who was both hobbled) were horribly exposed when they had the ball, so for me I'm all in on adding mids who defend and have pace to the mix.

I'm not sure we get a lot of him 2025 but over the longer term he will be a good pick-up

We definitely need to find some more quicker midfielders. Richards has added a lot to our midfield because he's got the skills and the pace. Butters should solve all that for us in 2026

Let's hope he can play some good games early in the VFL and push for selection. When do we realistically expect him to be pushing for selection?

2026 and beyond, just feel as though he'll need a few pre seasons to get his fitness levels up to scratch.
