We started saying it like it was fact here a while ago (as a bit of a joke) and it snowballed from there. I think there is a chance, albeit a long shot, but others have followed it.
Lets wait and see what happens.

Ok thanks well he is a Baccus Marsh boy isn't he Western Jet so maybe go home factor plays a role , would be a real coup for the club to entice someone of Butters character.

Yeah mine too. I was sitting at the Ponsford end, L1 on the square line and the spread of the Hawks midfielders, flankers etc. was well advanced to compared to us. They worked hard to get the advantage wide, and then doubled in on us a few times when we were trying to keep up.

Not sure how much of it was pure pace or concentration. Not sure how much of it isn't a problem if we actually win the footy as much as we might like to.
          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I'm a bit more bullish than others and expect if he's fit and playing good footy at the lower level he'll be playing games at different times in 2025.

He's too talented not to get a look.

He was also a Bulldog supporter growing up with Bont as his hero.

They wouldn’t have been able to make take possession and make the field look big, if we weren’t bullied in the contest.

hopefully a fully fit Harmes, the inclusion of Kennedy and a full pre-season into English will help keep Libba, Trelor and Bont fresh come finals next year.

wouldn’t mind seeing us match up on them again next year in the first final, and see how there outside goes…

Hynes handed AFL debut against Lions

The forward-midfielder will make his debut against Brisbane in Gather Round.

Cooper Hynes will make his AFL debut against Brisbane in Gather Round this Saturday afternoon.

The 19-year-old was selected with the Club’s first pick (No. 20 overall) in the 2024 National Draft from the Dandenong Stingrays.

Hynes’ parents surprised him with the news in Thursday’s team meeting.

“It was an unbelievable moment when I saw Dad walk in – I sort of thought that something was up but when I saw him it was a shock,” he said.

First-year midfielder Cooper Hynes discusses the news of his imminent debut against Brisbane.

                  “It’s very exciting. I can’t wait.

“My family have been awesome for me ever since I decided I wanted to take football seriously. They’ve been there for me every step of the way.

“They’re my biggest supporters so I can’t wait to play for them this weekend.”

Hynes was hailed the match-winner in Footscray’s narrow four-point triumph over reigning VFL premiers Werribee last weekend, and will now get his senior opportunity against the reigning AFL premiers Brisbane.

He has got more of the football than I'd expect from a half forward that rotates in the middle, averaging 20 disposals already in the VFL. Seems well suited to the role and a good fit with a mix of height and ground level mobility/strength. A De Goey, Stringer archetype in the future maybe (hopefully more the former on field than the latter)

Excited about Hynes’ debut. I reckon he will be an excellent draft pick, in fact this years draftees I think will go down as one of our best hauls.

Now for the Buss sometime soon….

Is De Goey seen as being better/having a better career than Stringer? I think they've had pretty similar careers - moments of brilliance surrounded by underwhelm. Degoey has had more influential midfield games - is that what you were referring to?

Very excited to see Hynes debut. I saw him break a tackle in a pre season scratch match with a Rhyan Gryffon type hip shake, and I've been on board ever since.

Given his limited pre season, it shows how he is rated and how he is performing (and probably a little bit how bad our injury list is...) that he's got a debut by round 5!

Best of luck to the young fellow. There are a lot of knowledgeable members here on WOOF who hold Hynes in high regard so this is very much a debut I've got a lot of interest in
I want to thank Mofra in particular for flying the Cooper Hynes flag since he was drafted.
