No Cooney is incredible - the first player tagged every week in the third best team in the comp

He had a poor season compared to 2008 but he was still vastly better than a number of players.

His numbers aren't that much lower than last year.

No Coons, no Pav, Goodes in the thirties. If these guys aren't among the top dozen players in the league I'll eat my hat.

Heck, Liam Picken is a better player than Clinton Jones. (Sheahan tipped Ryan Griffen to end up in his top 20 at the beginning of the year and hasn't made the list. Ryan had a better finals campaign than half the guys on his list).

This guy is on the turps.

The list is for the best 50 of this year - not strictly the best in the league. There is quite a few a disagree with - but thats the beauty of it being subjective.

Have no problem with Clinton Jones being in the best 50 of the year. I think he was. He tagged the oppositions best player every week, did well on all the stars, got a fair bit of the ball and even kicked some goals. Thought he had a good finals series too. For a bloke with limited ability - he had an outstanding year.

Not that fussed with the top 50 but serious, Job Watson at 36, not too sure if he's better than cross.

He probably had a better season than Cross that is how it is supposedly judged.

Sam Gilbert not in the top 50, Ryan Hargrave at #50, Nick Maxwell at #38, Sam Fisher at #34, Andrew Mackie at #30 and Corey Enright at #8. Of all these defenders, Hargrave has had a better season with the possible exception of Enright - Shaggy should have made top 20 and Enright is probably 10 places too high. Amazed that Gilbert didn't even make the list - Fisher and Maxwell both far too high based on 2009 output.

Lake also the equal of Scarlett in 2009 and should have waltzed into the top 10.

Bartel far too high at #11.

Sam Fisher was fortunate to make the list this year. Got in on reputation. Gilbert probably missed as he did trail off in the later half and also missed 2 or 3 with injury. His '09 would certainly have been the equal of Fisher's, probably better. Jimmy's probably still in my top 20 but agree that 11 is pushing it. I'm an an Enright fan but as with Jim probably b/w 20 - 15 somewhere. On influence think Chappy could've made the top 10 although did miss a few games late with his hamstring.
