Well, I'm absolutely flying this year (by my previous standards) finished 1,248th for the week and I'm sitting 3,826th overall, scored 2270 and have got my average up to 2218.


Quick question or piece of advice wanted from the more experienced:

I'm considering upgrading this week, trading in Duffield and Schmidt for, say perhaps Gram and Ladson which would give $117k cash surplus. I've only got 16 trades left for the season. Is this a good idea?

Murphy killed me, as did Chris Masten from WCE. Have some spare cash so will look to upgrade Masten to a keeper (Judd would break my Carlton rule - K Cornes?)

I lost by about 20 points.

He had Jack Riewoldt and I had Murphy. Riewoldt scores 140-odd and Murphy 19. I'll never work out this game.

Got major problems in my mids with Mitchell, Selwood and Ball all getting under 70. Still got 2062 for the week but dropped 2000 odd positions overall which hurts.

Glad Swan and Pendles got on the scoreboard this week, had been hurting with the $$$ invested. Although Rockliff hurt us, particularly in the last quarter, he did provide good coverage with Buddy on my bench. Now what to do with Jarrad Waite ??

Its not a bad idea Griff cause Gram is far too inconsistent for supercoach and Duffield does get a lot of it but again is a little inconsistent but i would rather have Duffield over Gram.

Schmidt for Ladson is a 50/50 though. Ladson still has a capacity to make you some more money and the way Adelaide are going you don't know who is going to get dropped. I haven't seen the kid play but if you have and are confident he will stay in the team for a while yet then i would make the trade because he does have 2 good scores behind him and there are not a lot of good defensive rookies that will come through.

So I was one of the many stupid people who put Relton Roberts into the side. I'm thinking of swapping him for Pod's this week I'm just a little concerned about his playing time I think he'll be dropped as soon as he has a bad one.

Do I go for him or a safer option like Rockliff?

Hmm, it's a tough one isn't it?

I've already got Rockliff and has has done OK both weeks. Like yourself, I have Roberts, and am also considering a trade to Podsiadly.

Great start to the season! i'm in a similiar position (ranked 3509th) finished just inside the top 1000 last season so looking to improve on that!

In regards to your 2 trades, the Ladson to Schmidt trade looks like it could be a good one. But it depends if your planning to bench Schmidt or start him on the ground? I personally wouldn't have him starting but he looks like he's going to be a good money maker as Bock is out for atleast another 2-3 weeks and even then on his current form he wouldn't be dropped! So if you have Maguire? Or Waters? to start instead of him then i say go for it!

It may also be the last opportunity to get a good rookie backmen to swap Ladson for, no others are really looking like it. Maybe Sheppard from West Coast if he gets a run.

I don't think the Gram > Duffield trade is a good trade however.. Gram has been pretty good this year (average of around 90) and i can only see his scoring potential increasing now that Rewoildt has gone down.. With Goddard, Dal Santo ect spending a bit of time forward it will allow Gram to play more of a midfield role.

I do think Duffield will average more than Gram throughout the year but seeing as you have used 4 trades already i wouldn't be pulling the trigger on Gram yet. Grams price will continue to rise slowly over the next couple of weeks. Maybe if you have no underperformers/Injuries in a couple of weeks then look to upgrade him to a gun backmen.

I just think being down to 14 trades this early is a little bit risky, keeping in mind that in a couple of weeks when your bench players have peaked in there price and your trading them for other rookies to make money, to upgrade other players on the ground it's essentially costing you 2 trades to upgrade 1 player. Not to mention injuries!!!

Noice. I'm 1674th with 18 (and a cunning plan). Breaking the top 500 would be a real achievement for me.
