Yeah, this. Feel like the ACL’s put him behind the 8-ball and he just lost that ability to cover the ground. Had the ball in his hands at the final siren in 2016.
Park that car
Drop that phone
Sleep on the floor
Dream about me
He was so impressive in his first few years, I thought he could be anything. Two ACLs in three years is hard to recover from and he just lost a little bit of zip and agility that impacted his game. It can be such a cruel game at times.
Entertained fanciful notions he might've been able to fill some of the breach left by Junkley with his bigger frame, some inside rotations and cameos up forward but that clearly wasn't to be.
And then there were four ... 2016 suddenly seems an eternity ago.
Makes me sadder than I would have thought. He looked like a teenage emo in 2016 and played well in the GF. Much stronger and braver than his slight frame suggested.
I didn’t think he got much of a go this year, and when I saw we recruited Harmes, knew his time would be up.
Still just 27, but his body has not been resilient. The age profile of our flag team suggested a young core that would contend again but it hasn’t been the case. Crazy to think that Tom Boyd is just 28 for example. This game is brutal. Thanks Toby for your part in that amazing time.
